people never hated lucki lmao he is not in the same category as most underground artist (him being way older and having grown into the sound he has now himself, while most artist now get inspiration from others). Tho i do think that Ian doesnt fit into the yeat and ken category. His music is more soulless. Alot of the songs sound the same (not saying they are ass i have some on my pl) and they sound like they are made by ai. Same flow, same sound, and didnt have the same way of maturing his music making. I hope he does improve but he blew up way faster than yeat did. Yeat was innovative and most songs he tried new things. Same with ken kind of (his songs are just undeniably hard also).

I would like to see him switch it up a little bit in the future tho (perhaps when he drops his first album), but for rn i think he's fine. Even it took yeat a few years for him to find his Alive - 2 Alive sound. And now he's switched it up and has a completely different sound.

I definitely agree with Dontai that this is "background music" and that its very similar to Yeat. I like Ian's music but he's very formulaic with the beat and lyrics and flow to which it's not interesting enough to be mind blowing but can definitely hold itself up to be noticed and you know exactly what you are gonna hear when you click play. There are plenty of artists out there that have some established buzz that could release these songs and it would be received the exact same.

I think there is a lot of misunderstanding. This isn't a Kendrick, Drake, Lil Wayne, etc. This is just the new gen underground sound. It's filler music that uses the beat as the main attraction. But as far as that new gen underground sound, it also isn't anything special. It's not doing anything different that separates him like yeat, lucki, lone, etc. It's closer to a osamason, ka$hdami, kankan. its just there.
