For centuries, Africa has been plundered by foreign powers, who have seized territory and reaped the benefits of profitable trade routes.
Despite Africa’s abundant natural resources, it remains the poorest continent.
A new report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) supports an African Union initiative to remove trade barriers to increase the flow of goods among African nations. It says the African Continental Free Trade Area could reduce extreme poverty.
We caught up with the IMF managing director while she was in Nairobi to endorse the AU initiative. Kristalina Georgieva talks to Al Jazeera.

Name one country that the IMF has successfully supported out of poverty since it's inception in 1944. The US spent over $11 TRILLION on domestic Covid relief efforts and the IMF wants a cookie for $50 Billion in SDRs to a whole continent with almost 4X the US population and more than half the world's poor? Ms Georgieva said nothing different from what the IMF has said for decades. This outfit is not fit for purpose and should either be drastically restructured to better represent the interests of ALL members or be dissolved.. What a waste of time, I want my 25 minutes back.

Exactly. The IMF and the Word Bank are two institutions that have been a curse to African nations by always putting them in debt and providing dead aid. It is time for African countries to wake up and refuse aid and debts from those organizations. Great book by author Dambisa Moyo tacles the issue of aid in her book Dead Aid. Highly recommend the book if you want to understand the troubles of aid in African.

IMF is a Mafia THIEVING pirate US backed organisation that KILLS and coups leaders who don't take their MAFIA loans. They are the ENEMY, never to be trusted. This woman is a thieving COLONIZER economic hitman. The BRICS bank is the ONLY way to go. NEVER trust these THIEVES. Read the book "Confessions of an economic hitman" it's the account of someone who worked for the IMF and World Bank and how they killed leaders who wanted to use their resources to help their people. These organisations are ONLY used to STEAL from the global South 😮

We need to reform the banking sector, we need to enable the treasury to print our money not the central bank. We also need to reform from debt to charity monetary system
