The "ending phrase" is Alaska's, but not Alaska from Drag Race, it's actually from a famous singer. The song is called " A quien le importa", that talks about being proud of who you are and giving zero fucks to the people who talk badly about you.

I love how Spanish can sound like such a romantic and elegant language at times but it's so deliciously saucy. Even when you're being mean it just sounds hilarious. I can laugh forever at Carmen saying "que hija de la gran puta", but in English saying "what a bitch" just lacks that flavor xD

@@lxos in my experience when most white Americans say they studied something they can maybe say two sentences in that language. Las escuelas estadounidenses son realmente malas. Al menos con los idiomas. (hope that was okay, maybe this is ironic because I'm criticising Americans but I only started learning Spanish last month and I sometimes accidentally blend it with French)

In South america we learn english under the assumption than the rest of the continent communicates in that language, so it was weird for me when i found out that North americans don't learn Spanish since its literally the language with more active speakers in the rest of the continent. Colombia, mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, venezuela, argentina etc etc

That's just English native speakers for you, it's exactly the same in the UK. Most of the Brits are monolinguals, meanwhile the rest of Europe speaks AT LEAST two languages, but in many countries it's three or more. Where I grew up it was very normal to speak 3 languages: everyone speaks German and English, and almost everyone learns a third language at high school (most often Spanish, French or Latin)

A lot of words in Spanish can be translated to F*g*t, like Mar*con, J*to, P*to. Those words are still slurs agains LGBTQIA+ but we choose to reclaim and reappropriate them in order use them with pride or as funny words.

I saw a KZfaq comment on a different video that describes Arantxa’s name as this: Arantxa is a common name in Spain, such as Hannah is in the US; Castilla-La Mancha is a province of Spain similar to Montana is in the US; and Arantxa and La Mancha rhyme, just like Hannah and Montana. I am a secondary source so forgive me if I’m wrong!

Yes, but part of the joke is the complexity. It’s not something simple like “Felicia Galicia”. Instead it’s a mouthful. The idea is that the Spanish version of Hannah Montana (5 syllables, soft consonants) would require 10 syllables in Spanish with notoriously beautiful consonants like txa/cha.

¡Qué fuerte! Just a little insight on the line replacing "If you can't love yourself...": Alaska is a famous singer from the 80s in Spain, she has a song called "¿A Quién Le Importa?" ("Who Cares?"), which is the song which lyrics are used as the "can I get an amen" :) It's an LGBTQ+ anthem in Spain.

What do you mean we don't have words that can't be said? Maricón is a Homophobic slur that shouldn't be said. Just because the gay community use it on a friendly way to try and take it back doesn't mean that it is a good word.

i've had a crush on javier calvo since fisica o quimica, so i love seeing him on my screen. and i loved the judging, they were nice but also addressed the negatives in a constructive way. the host is super nice and gives a familiar feel. you just feel comfortable with him there, because he's not trying to act like he's just running the show, he's also on this journey with the girls and having fun. i just loved it in general

maricon is the f slur in spanish. it's just that in spain and portugal, we have less of an issue with the word. maricon in spain and paneleiro(or panisgas) in portugal are thrown around like nothing by gay and straight people. we're just a bit more crude when it comes to casual talk

About the f"g word (maric0n), in Spain we adopted the slur and turn it to a slang, is not offensive if a LGBT+ uses the word between others LGBT+ but is still a slur used by straight people against us. So you don't be uncomfortable hearing the f*g, is not offensive, is just a cultural gap.
