I lived in Germany for two years so I can give you all the references I’m so cultured just like Darby in Barthelona

The Lorelei is a rock peninsula in The Rhein/Rhine Gorge. It is associated with either mischievous dwarves or a siren who would sit on it singing to tempt those sailing past. The sailors would become distracted and crash into the rock. 🖤

The Loreley is a famous rock formation/hill at the Rhine river and famously known for the folklore surrounding it. Some stories mention dwarfs living in the Loreley to be making sounds that echo over the river. Later interpretations associate it with a woman sitting on top of it, brushing her golden hair and enchanting the sailors so that they would crash (it's also a quite turbulent area of the river). Another tales tell a story about a bride who was only in love with one knight, however many men were madly in love with her and killed themselves over the heartbreak, which is why she was accused of being a witch. She was meant to be burned at the stake, however the archbishop of Cologne sent her to a monastery out of pity instead. On her way, she climbed the Loreley to see the castle of her knight one last time and saw him in a boat on the Rhine, shouting his name, which led to him crashing and drowning. Out of desperation, she threw herself into the Rhine too and was never seen again... Also fun etymology: The exact origin is unknown, the -ley in Loreley however definitely comes from the celtic Ley meaning (slate) rock/cliff. The origin of "Lore" is disputed, it maybe refers to the echos that you could hear there, coming from the Middle High German _Lorren_ meaning howling or screaming which could also refer to the many sailors that frequently died there. It could also just mean lookout rock considering the Rhinish word _luren._ One last option would be again Middle High German with the word _lur_ meaning fairy, so the fairy rock.
