I’m going to start watching Philippines purely because I literally refuse to miss out on IMHO content

'Branding' is a very important part of drag in The Philippines. It doesn't quite mean the way we often use it in the West. Saying 'you don't know your branding' is more like saying 'you haven't found your niche, what is special about you and what you do best'. It's not a negative thing, it's a way to get someone to find their 'special something' that everyone will associate with you and class you as an expert in. For example, Kennedy Davenport is known as a dancer. She can do other things but her 'brand' or 'speciality' is dancing and pageantry. On the US show there's a lot of pressure put on the contestants to vary their 'brand' but in The Philippines they think it's weird for you to vary too far from it. They don't mind if a queen always looks high fashion and they won't say she needs to 'not be afraid to get messy'. Most of the drag world outside of the US (and RuPaul hosted shows) seems to look at things a similar way. I just can't imagine someone telling Cheddar Gawjus that they need to wear wigs or Liquorice Black that they need to wear colourful glam. They are accepted and cherished for their 'brand'. 🖤

Darby is too good, humour drier than the Sahara! Both looking fabulous as usual, in fact its the best make up I've seen from Alexis and we get an entertaining video.

Brigiding's runway is based off a visayan goddess, Dalikmata. She is the goddess of a thousand eyes (her body is covered with eyes) and against eye ailments. She also can see the past, present and future. Now with that said, I can see the inspiration. But personally wasn't a fan of her look as well, not a fan of full body suits specially if it doesn't match skintone.

it's pronounced PA--A--LAM (pah-ah-lam). Tagalog/Filipino is a highly phonetic language, so almost everything is pronounced/read how it's spelled. Every vowel sound is short form, never long form and there are almost no diphthongs, so every vowel is pronounced never combined to make a new sound or elongate a sound.

Alexis - As another GOT fan - I definitely encourage you to read the books! I started them in the second season of the show, and ended up finishing them all, ( which was a feat, because there are so many, and all are very long )! I read and watched simultaneously, and though there are lots of plot and character differences between them, I never found that bothersome. I wish I had kept the books cause I would have sent them to you.

12:37 I would just like to add to this that this series was shot last year mid pandemic for the Philippines, and it was handled poorly by the Philippine government, some queens' resources were limited in some challenges, and some designers backed out from them. (more was revealed in the later episodes) Minty has also been criticized by Drag Race fanatics for using the same gloves in 3 challenges and Minty responded *"The judges knew we filmed at the middle of pandemic. I'm sorry if I used the same gloves.."*
