Wow. 35 Years of modeling, and it takes a KZfaq video to show me the paint pouring trick with the stick. Now I’m embarrassed 😳. I just binge watch your videos, due to corona boredom. Nice, nice, nice 👍. You’re amongst the best!

Thanks for sharing David! Although fabric imitation is not something completely new, it always nice to see technique "in action". About coping "crosses". I also prefer to paint those for many reasons (including shading like you did). I just make a copy of decal sheet on copy machine first and cut masks on the copied paper, not on decals directly. And before I apply mask on surface, I put cut cross on the wing. I use it as a guide to help myself apply mask accurately. Then remove cross... And I love the idea of imitating wing transparency and how you imitate this by painting cross and letters on the bottom side of the wing. And it would make it even more realistic to paint cross and letters with blurred, boarder. All the best to you from Riga.

Perfect, I was going to ask you for a video on how you imitated the wing fabric. I noticed on your previous video that the crosses seemed to be visible 'through' the semi-transparent wings, although I was sure that it was one of your amazing tricks. Now I'll find out! Love your videos! :-)

Hi there, maybe an idea. Our aircraft painters in the hangar use mask as well. After taking out the parts where paint should go they cover up the whole mask with another layer of low tack adhesive foil. The whole lot is removed and placed on the aircraft skin, it makes it easier to place it correctly. Then the cover foil is removed and paint applied. This way the are even able tho place items that are not attached to the main mask. Cheers Andree
