This movie was recorded in the Summer of 2009 at Space in Evanston, Illinois. Select members of the Fifth House Ensemble performed specifically for this production: Jennifer Woodrum - Clarnet, Hereine Coetzee Koschak - Cello, Eric Snoza -- Double Bass, Karl Rzasa - Bassoon, and Deaunn Davis - Horn
ImmersAV Technology is a new 3D audio video production format that combines patent pending point of view Binaural Audio recording with simultaneous High Definition video recording. The result is a truly immersive experience based on the synergy of sight and sound. Playback requires headphones for optimum audio reproduction. This production will be available soon in a format for loudspeaker listening capable of creating a similar spatial experience to headphone listening.

I love this little piece. I recall hearing Nielsen's light hearted 'programme' behind it. Supposedly a small band of jobbing musicians commissioned to serenade someone's lady-love outside their window as per Romeo/Juliet balcony scene. As there is no response from said window, they play in a more languorous vein -but still no response! As they have clearly played in vain (in Vano) they basically don't give a shit anyway and walk home playing a little march tune for their own entertainment. Despite the humorous premise there are contemplative depths below the surface as is characteristic in so much of Nielsen's oeuvre especially in the slow movement.

The proximity of the rear wall increases the possibility of locating the origin of the sound. Surely, they are absorbent panels but even so, the reflection of the floor and wall increases the information captured by the microphones, giving a greater scene, sound and three-dimensionality in the reproduction with headphones. In others. Videos from, this same channel, that information is lost as the orchestra is very far from the background. The natural, controlled room reverberation is the secret of Binaural recordings. In an open field or in an anechoic room they don't work, there is no magic of seeming to be really listening live. In this recording the ideal effect is almost achieved.
