I'm old... my 5 th grade teacher in 1982 would have us lay our heads on our desk after lunch , she would turn the lights down low and read the Bible to us. She got in trouble as 1 student parent complained cause she was J.Witness. But this was the best teacher I ever had❤. She wouldn't fail anyone cause it hurt her to much inside.. that wasn't so good but her heart was 1000%in right place. We cleared an area in woods and made wagon decor out of wood and paper.. the cooks baked the pies for us and we had a Thanksgiving service in the woods with our parents invited. That was prior to no kid left behind crap that destroyed education. She even brought in a churn and we all had to make butter by hand for the meal.

Yes, Lee Greenwood is the older guy, and was the original recorder of the song. You may not have noticed but this was done totally a cappella - no instruments involved. There is a group of 5 in this (not wearing fatigues) who are an a cappella group called Home Free, which include the bass singer you raised your eyebrows at, the three bearded guys, and the beatboxer.

The weekend of 9-11 we raced in Memphis Tennessee and this song played constantly until the races started. On our way to Memphis from our home in Texas we saw so many American flags at peoples homes and even the small ones people put on their cars. It was such a patriotic time in the USA. 9-11 happened on Tuesday and this was Friday the 14th. Lee Greenwood was the first guy to sing on the video and yes he has an amazing voice

This same piece was the last and closing piece for the program. We went from 07/02/1776, the day of the actual vote, thru the reading of the full Declaration, Kate Smith singing "God Bless America" for the 1st time on the radio in 1938, a 1969 video of Red Skelton explaining his school boy understanding of the Pledge of Allegiance and ending with Lee Greenwood, HF and the Singing Sergeants of the USAF.

The castle is a studio. It's amazing they did this in the middle of covid separated in four different locations. Adam (the beatboxer) usually lays his tracks last so he knows what needs added but I have to wonder if he laid his tracks first for this because Lee and the Singing Sergeants are used to singing to music unlike the guys of HF. I first heard this song, by Lee Greenwood, when I was an Air Force member, stationed in the Philippines in the '80's. And HOW I heard it was that Lee, himself, came there and sang it. The crowd went NUTS! They STILL go nuts. Now, this version, is done along with not just AF members, BUT my favorite group of all time, Home Free, whom I have followed for many years. They simply can't be beat. So, altogether, it brings a LOT of memories and pride!

Every person singing has an amazing voice. Most impressive though is Lee Greenwood. He still has a very strong, beautiful voice, even though he is, at the time of this recording, in his mid seventies. At the end of the song, you can hear what sound of a plane doing a fly over. That is the Home Free beatboxer, Adam Rupp.

Back in 2000, I was a Sophmore in high school and my choir was chosen to go to Orlando for a Disney hosted choir competition. Lee Greenwood served as one of the judges for it. The evening of competition day they shut down Typhoon Lagoon early so the choir competitors could have it to themselves and also to host the awards ceremony there. Lee Greenwood did a private performance of this song for us before they began the ceremony. One of the best memories I have. He was so nice!

Tomorrow, I will go say hi to my dad. He's laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. He named me for his big brother, an honor for sure, my uncle who gave his life fighting the Nazis in World War II. After some time in Arlington I will go to the park that surrounds the Marine Memorial. This overlooks Washington D.C. for those who don't know from this spot we will watch the fireworks as we celebrate the 4th of July. It's a great day to be an American then again every day is! Watching your reaction it is easy to see how much you love OUR country ... because clearly you are all in on being American, a beautiful thing!

I love when you said "I am a citizen.,This is about me!" As a native born American there is nothing more touching than an immigrant appreciating becoming a citizen.

You reacted to Dan Vasc and Amazing Grace. He is from Brazil. Three years ago, he did The Star Spangled Banner for our Fourth of July. It is the best I have ever heard. It brings tears to my eyes. It would be great to see your reaction to his version. I am a big country music fan and am enjoying your reactions!

Came out in the 80’s. Had a resurgence after 9/11. After 9/11 everyone we’re together like you said. We were united in pain and couldn’t wait until we got payback, maybe not right but we were angry. My best friends son, who I felt like was my son (even though I was only 10 years older than him). That whole time was horrible.

I love this song and as a Canadian, I am very grateful for Lee to have recorded the song God Bless Canada. He wrote one for Canada from an American's perspective living in the States ... and I have played it at every Remembrance Day since I first heard it. Now this video shows the route that our deceased soldiers returning from Afghanistan and it hits home so much. They arrive at the Canadian Air Force Base in Trenton, Ontario, and they go along Highway 401, named the Highway of Heroes, as the soldier and families make their way to Toronto, Ontario (the Coroner's building). So emotional. To all soldiers past and present - Canadian and American and all of our Allies, thank you for your service. Loved your reaction too it too. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rOCol8hl09nWg4E.html
