Classism is far more important than racism. It's a way bigger deal. That's why rich Nigerians came home here and thrive. And that's why Japanese immigrants can have all the success in the world here. Or indian DRs. Classism is the real issue. It's just that class is linked to race cuz of how historically racist America is/was. But to think that race is more important than class gives rise to the tokenism argument. That's what Dennis Prager and Ben Shapiro use to "debunk" racism. But classism explains why most real African Americans are poor. Nigerian Americans who come from generational wealth who move here for their career are not African Americans. They're just black Nigerian Americans. Nothing wrong with that. But they don't represent the shared experience with our black population.

Actually it was codified into law-the Red Scare along with red lining and many violent policies targeted Russians, socialists, the Irish, Italians, Catholics, Greeks-and the KKK at its height targeted all these groups along with Jews, Latinos and (obviously) Black people. But the deeper question is-if classism is behind racism, then why would classism not apply itself toward poor whites as it would against any other race or ethnicity? That’s what capitalism is-just because the majority of wealthy people by proportion are white means nothing to whites at the socioeconomic bottom.
