There is no shame in fighting for your mother how you are. Keep reading scripture, keep praying, keep believing. God's plan is always a mystery to us, and I just said a prayer for your mother, but I also prayed for you. Whichever way this tribulation leads your life, stand strong in your faith. It will all make sense in the end, and God loves you both.

You are living in complete fear about sin. Planning baptism? Ok, but are you planning to get saved? You do know that water baptism does not save right? 1 Cor 1:15-17.

Just recognise when you’ve sinned, admit it, and TRY YOUR BEST (with His help) not to let it happen again. You’re GOING to fall short of His grace. I postponed mine for so long that I regret it every single day, but I was finally baptized last month. My biggest and most painful regret ? My mom was not there to see it and my dad never cared. But at least I know that the angels arrived in heaven, they looked for my family and told them that I was finally baptized. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to experience this wonderful moment.

Water baptism is needed for heaven, understand Bible says to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38), that’s the Word, don’t ignore it, and don’t ignore John 3:5. Make sure to always put God’s teaching first. I’m not in your church, but that sounds like that pastor was cherry picking to form his own opinion on Scriptures and God is completely against that. Because it is removing and adding words to His. Jesus wants us to be baptized both spiritually by accepting Him and in water❤ Also something that John the Baptist was always telling others about.

You should consider finding a church that believes baptism is essential. Just because something isn't necessary for salvation that doesn't mean its not important. Communion is not required for salvation as well, but is also very important. We should practice what Jesus and disciples taught were essential practices for Christians.

My mother was also a single mother when she had me. It was a very dark and hard time in her life, especially since I had autism, but she raised me with selfless, unconditional love, and she still does to this day. The LORD was with her during her time, and I have faith He’ll be there for you as well. Keep your faith in Him and I know He’ll give you everything you need. God bless you.

No. Baptism is a willing, conscious profession of one's belief in God. It results from faith, not causes faith. It's like a wedding: weddings don't cause love, they result from love. Love => wedding. Faith => baptism. And no, you can't believe for the baby, because that's not how salvation works (Jn 3:16). You also don't get saved after being baptized; you are baptized _because_ you are saved after believing. Babies and most children don't understand what baptism symbolizes, much less what Jesus symbolizes. And as 6:01 says, baptism is for believers. Examples are Cornelius, the Ethiopian eunuch, the repentant jailer, and Paul. First they believed in God, _then_ they got baptized BY IMMERSION, not sprinkling.

But I’m the New Testament Paul asked the man if he believed and only when he said yes would Paul baptize him. As a baby, you don’t have the mental capacity to believe in Jesus. The baptism should only take place once the spiritual baptism has already occurred. It is a public decree that God has saved you and already washed your sins away by his spirit. I don’t believe baby baptisms are biblical, what is the point when the person isn’t old enough to accept God? A parent can’t give salvation to their child, it is only when God calls you and you make the choice to accept Him.

That is so relatable. I rededicated myself to Christ almost exactly one year ago, and ‘whirlwind’ is exactly right. He’s revealed my sins to me and showed me just how awful they were, and then helped me confess them both to him and to my family, which my flesh entirely hated and fought me every second of the way. Now I’m past that and the absence of the guilt and shame is incredible. Now the Lord is leading me through getting rid of a habitual sin that I’ve had for the past 14 years, and It is an incredibly hard and battle. I can’t wait to get baptized, and also to be free from this sin!

God bless, don't be scared put your faith in the Lord always. Baptism is the start of your journey to sanctification and even though you might stumble, I can testify that the Lord won't forsake you as He did for me. I say that as someone who used to think I had become unworthy of His forgiveness with all the struggles I had after getting baptized.

@@imspiker3645 Matthew is an Old Testament book. Christ's earthly ministry was for Israel in the pages of Matthew. Christ said in Matthew 15 "I have only come for the lost sheep of the house of Israel." He also told his disciples in Matthew 10 "go not into the way of the gentiles." It's common sense to say gentiles were not privileged to have access to the information Christ was giving. If it wasn't for you then, it isn't for you now. Matthew 28:19 doesn't apply to us. Water baptism is a ritual for Israel during the Old Testament.

Baptism because of having faith in the grace of Jesus Christ is only required once. Even if a person walks away and decides to return, a second baptism is not taught as a requirement in scripture.

When a person is getting baptized for the first time, they should understand the sacrifice Jesus made for us, our personal need to be forgiven of sin, and that salvation comes through grace by faith in Jesus alone. As committed followers of Jesus Christ, our focus should be on doing the things that we know and believe are pleasing to God instead of checking a box.
