In all honesty these unique buildings shouldn't just be tourist attractions but should have a related service such as shopping, offices etc

I hope in CS2 such buildings will have more utility. Scyscrappers should have enormous value for office and residential spaces while City Halls could influence the laws and taxes of the city. Unique buildings should be a salt to sprinkle on top of effective city, not the meat :/

I just hope that unique buildings have a use in CS2. Like imagine we place down those buildings but they actually have a purpose like commercial, residential, schools, etc. Maybe I'm asking too much lmao

Unique builings are one of my least favorite mechanics in the game. Unlocking some of these requires you to do absolutely bonkers stuff.

My tinfoil hat thinking is they gonna be twice as many in CS2 with micro transactions to buy them.

Never understood why uniques never got a drop-down so we could choose tourist attraction or one category of RICO as functional mode for them.

This video also tells me that not only the use (or a lack of), but the price of them is insane and has nothing to do with reality. In no world would you have a piece of asphalt with a goofy rainbow statue on it (1:00) eat more than 10x cash than a massive skyscraper (0:37). It tells me there should be a mod that calculates the prices and capacity based on a building's volume like they've already done with population to deal with that crap.

that's why i use the modding way: except those related to monuments i RICO-ed most of them. software studio? that's a great IT building; groceries stores? commercial; "hotel A-Z"? well... tourism and so on. some of those are even great residential buildings.

Some of the vanilla assets are outlandishly comical compared to all the content-creator assets, I hope the overall art direction for CS2 is more semi-realistic.

I only put one unique in each district as a landmark, but only if it remains low cost.

For many of these buildings it would make more sense if they would not be unique, but if you could construct multiple of them. Just like you don't have just one police station in your city.

I Don’t understand why buildings which are supposed to be private businesses have an upkeep cost for the city. Why would a city be paying to maintain a diner?

The cost of them isnt that insane I feel, seldom I put down every single unique building in the game ( how many different stadiums would/should a town of 120k citizens have ?? ) But the cost of some of them compared between them is weird, Mall of Marvels from KingLeno cost 1280 a week, conference center cost 400 a week and Sahel monument 400 a week as well, it just doesnt seem to fit when looking at size and how much electricity/personel etc that would be required for them But heck, if we can force every citizen through a park and earning 60k a month on that then the realisme is just like it should be.

First thing I do when beginning a city is setting unique buildings funding on 50%😎

I turn all unique buildings into procedural objects then add block service cubes, ill put them inside, a park cube for entertainment, residential lvl 1-5 cube, commercial lvl 1-5 cube. You could even turn the empire state building into a car factory by placing the car factory cube or place the healthcare cube to turn a building into a hospital and po is brilliant for scaling buildings to an exact size, i just built a giant tesla giga factory removed half the roof vortexs to make it look like its still under construction stuck a car factory cube inside and i have half the building operating while the other half is being built

Its funny how many of the unique buildings, especially the european ones, are just copies of Colossal Orders 2011 game 'Cities in Motion', e.g. cathedral, theater, academic library, department store etc..

I think this could've been avoided if some concepts of the CCPs wouldn't require DLCs to function properly. (They probably didn't do it to avoid an EA mishap [DLCs for DLCs]).

I really hope they change the Unique Building system in the next game....in particular the CCP buildings like Skyscrapers or the new shopping malls. These building should not be unique and the only way I will use the is with the RICO mod.

Somewhat disagree. I agree that some assets shouldn't even be unique. I disagree that we should be expected to use all of them. I would never feel like my city is less-than just because I didn't use EVERY skyscraper variant. What I *want* is for unique buildings to serve as both tourist attractions AND functional RCI+services, whatever that might be for the particular building (hotel = commercial, space launch complex = industrial+commercial, etc.)
