Today we no choice but to buy a new refrigerator. After 10 years our other one quit. We had it repaired before and just don't trust it anymore. We already knew where was going to shop first Imperial Appliance Mega Showroom. Headquarters for all of Imperial Appliance throughout the Philippines. We looked at all available models for the Philippines and once we found a couple models we liked then we headed out to shop it against the competitors. Imperial beat them by a large amount. We wanted a automatic ice maker, water dispenser on the door and quality. We did not want another Samsung after having multiple problems out of the last refrigerator made by them as well as failing washing machine both here in the Philippines and the USA.
We are a Fil Am couple sharing our lives between living in Texas USA and Iloilo City on Panay Island Philippines. We share dealing with two different cultures, building our solid concrete cast in place home beach side and exploring/ seeking new things. We hope you enjoy and join to be part of a bigger family here on this channel.

I ran a laundromat that used all Maytag, I actually still have a washer and dryer I took home when we sold it in 05 and they’re still running. In 2006 Maytag was sold to Whirlpool, even the commercial ones. 😮

Yes Sir looks like that's a one stop shop for appliances & electronics .They have a very nice selection it's better than what I saw when I was in Tagum city & Davao looking for a big flat screen TV for Lyka's & my room we brought a 55 " Samsung at mall in Tagum . Hey I was in Montgomery Alabama which is out state Capital at thier Samsung Store the other week when I was there I saw a Samsung 146 " flat screen. And they showed me a picture of the new 292" flat screen Samsung just made for the market they said they would have one on display soon . Now that's a huge TV lmao 🤣. I really liked that refrigerator you just brought James its sharp looking very modern looking 👌. I will definitely keep that place in mind if I decide on settling in the iloilo area . I have been thinking about the Davao / Tagum city area but you & Capps have peaked my interest up for your area 🤔. God bless Yall & always Mabuhay 🙏 ❤️.

I bought a Samsung fridge from Savers. 1 month out of warranty, it quit working. I found a local repairman that came to the house and checked it out. He said it was a common problem and was able to repair it. Total cost was 900 peso for part and labor. Maybe you can find a local guy to come have look at your fridge. I know that they can fix anything. Then you would have a spare for a guestroom.

Consumer reports state that refridgerators with water or ice dispensors mounted on the door, typically those items don't last more than a few short months longer than the warranty, just sayin. I agree completely with you, Imperial Appliance is the place to go. For example, I was looking for a 2hp Samsung aircon which I bought from Imperial, more than double the price at SM. I bought a 55" Skyworth from SM, what I have discovered is that the processor in it compared to the 2 TCL's I have back in Toronto, is it is really super slow.

I disagree on the dispensers. I do agree on the processors. but our skyworth is pretty fast. No matter what brand they get built by market. A highend Sony in USA is not the same as a highend Sony Philippines.

It's a roll of the dice on any brand you buy these days. They just don't make anything the way they used to. If you product lasts forever, then people will have no need to buy more unless they are one of the people who need to have the latest model. 😉

I looked up that model you were pointing to... they are around $800 less in the US. Some things seem to cost more there, especially vehicles and other Imported / luxury items.

Electronics for sure are more expensive in the Philippines. When my Wife 1st got here to the states, she couldn't believe how cheap a big screen TV is here

With ice and water hook up, I assume you have plumbed your house for it? Normal houses over there I would think would not have hook ups? Plus water quality? well water vs city water?

No it does not hook to tab water. It has a water tank you fill with filtered water. It pumps it to the ice maker and the door.

and you know that any refrigerator that has been moved should be left unplugged and standing upright for at least 4 hours to let the freon settle.?

to politely correct you it is the oil to settle back down to the compressor. This is mainly if it has been laid down on it side.

I won't be buying a fridge with icemaker, because we don't have potable water hookup in phils. I'll be making ice the old way from bottled water.

so you have something to learn here. It does not hookup to tab water. It has a water tank inside the refrig that you fill up with filtered water. It then pumps it to the door and ice maker. easy peasy. This is how units are throughout many countries in the world. Now you learned something

buying an LG or samsung esp the ref is a big problematic. it doesnt last long. esp the no frost model. the spare parts esp the internals cost almost the 50% to 60% of the total cost, its like buying a a toyota but the spareparts is like that of mercedez benz...easily get corroded the inside...

I get your point. They have improved that on the newer models. The models 2017 and back was bad. The pre 2010 models was real bad. I do know where to source the parts for a great price.

If you buy that LG with a ice maker it will give you problems. Mostly because of the ice maker. The fridges without ice makers are far superior in longevity. LG is good without the ice maker or filtered water.

Ok I will rip it out and ask for a refund lol . Joke. I will take my chances. Is your experience with one here in the Philippines or abroad? Do you own one and had this experience personally or just read that? I am curious. The ones here are different that USA models. Here there is no water filter just a tank that holds filtered water that you pour in. A small pump transfers it to the door and ice maker. The countries with clean safe tap water have models that you connect direct to the tap and have a filter inside plus a coil of tube that cold water sits in. Another MAJOR problem with inverter type appliances is POWER SURGES and dirty power. Philippines and now the USA increasingly has power outages with spikes when it comes back online. The power is either too low or too high and the hertz is often out of spec. Dirty power. Our power is constant due to us running strictly off inverters and battery bank. The grid only charges our batteries but does not tie directly to our house. Also poor grounding plays a huge role as well. In the USA they have this system where when there is a failure on the grid it trips at the sub station then tries to reset , then once more before it finally fully trips off until a lineman finds and repairs the problem. This is very hard on appliances and tv's especially if a compressor has not balanced pressure inside yet. All of our power is conditioned by our inverters so i will hope for the best. Our old refrigerator started giving trouble in 2015 before we built this place. Then years out of a cheap refrigerator that has been through hell - I can accept that. lol.
