I miss running Imperials😪. The first time I was in the Michigan state championship it was still in Charlotte and 55 of the 60 cars were imperials 🤯. I built a 454 from an RV into a torque monster with a set of 4:88 gears........ah, the good old days👍

Love this heat,, that 511 was amazing, that lead sled car was strong in the beginning I thought he was gonna pull it off,, then after I seen the hits the 511 was putting on every one I was rooting for him to win, I was mad when he got hung up lol.. But that's the name of the game

Here's an idea, instead of destroying classic American cars how about an all Toyota Camry derby. Those ugly things are a dime a dozen and getting as many of those things as possible off our streets and highways would be a wonderful thing and bring joy to my heart.

I want to see SUV/CUV derbys. I hate those glorified soccer mom mobiles littering the roads these days. I wished they'd all get smashed up! I've ran over a dozen Explorers, Equinox, Navigator, Tahoes in derbys over the years and I don't mind running some poser SUVs like the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V! It will be fun!

Radiator is 2 feet from the bumper inside trim is wood and metal have truck frames and suspension with leafs springs that make my dads truck look weak 😅 I have seen an imperial take out a 40 car heat and not have a dent in it

The Imperial back sides are launching pads...I've seen numerous cars flip over by trying to hit them. Imperials are the shiznit for demo derby's!

Damn that #9t car can take a beating and actually dished out some solid hits. Seemed like he was one all the drivers wanted out and did die out when his steering column exploded. #511 had this event in the bag.......then got stuck in the tire so fluky on a hell of a nice shot by the #287 at 8:35.

The only cars that can legit compete with an imperial are a 76 olds round back or maybe a 73 impala built right or a suicide 60’s Lincoln but most the time in my experience imperials just don’t bend like other cars the frames are so thick on them the metal on the body is thicker too it’s like 1/4th inch steal vs the 70s cars 3-16th” or 1/8” body steel 80’s cars are even thinner

Not saying all BUT most derby drivers today don’t know how to set up a derby car or a good derby driver From Legendary STOCKTON 99ers of 70’s and 80’s Yes some of us still alive 👍

Unfortunately youtube does this to some of ours videos. Makes speed a hair faster with no rhyme or reason. It really was a solid heat but you are the first to point out its did that to this video and I sadly see the same thing.

What a waste. These dummies spend all that time and money building these demolition derby cars out of one of the finest American luxury cars ever made, when they could put all of that energy towards restoring these amazing cars and get them back on the road where they belong. The engineering put into these Imperials make them some of the best driving cars of their time, with their torsion bar suspension and RB V8s with nearly 400hp. But they are becoming a dying breed, thanks to people like this that choose to destroy them instead of appreciate them. You don't have to make them a show car, daily drive them if you want, they are meant to be driven, not destroyed.

Yup. My neighbor took a nice old 70’s Buick that had a lot there and made it a stupid derby car. Everyone in the neighborhood wants to kick them out of our street.
