The whole game looks and feels like a massive interactive story book. Kirbys adventure still stands up and was built to last. Another informative video which really does this classic game justice!

There's a version of the game released in 2011 on the e-shop as a 3D classic on the 3DS that has virtually no slowdown and uses the systems 3D effect, i strongly recommend it!

tsangpogorge Just to let you know that the original Sonic games are amazing on the 3DS! The 3D looks good, and you get to do the spin dash on Sonic 1! 3DS is definitely a good purchase for many classics.

Gonna be honest, this is my favorite game on the NES. I remember I first played this game on a website that let you play NES games and for some reason it had the Canadian release which was in French and then later bought it off the Wii Virtual Console. There's so much to love about Kirby's Adventure and the only thing that bothers me about the game is all of the slowdown but thankfully if you play the 3D classics version released on the 3DS virtual console, it removes all of the slowdown and fixes some other small things.I still love to play it even to this day, I played it so much I can beat it without dying (still can't do boss endurance though). I'm really glad you reviewed one of my favorite games!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game. I thought the lack of difficulty would cause the game to be boring, and I hear a lot about "lag." Thankfully I have no idea what people are talking about, the controls are responsive. And while the challenge isn't very high, I found the overall experience rather engaging. One of my new favorite NES games for sure!

I wonder who is more powerful with their repertoire of weapons?? Mario?? Mega Man or Kirby?? Maybe Yoshi??

The answer to this "Is _____ still good?" Is probably the most obvious ever,... yes! I don't remember if I ever 100%-ed this one. I should revisit it to to really appreciate it. I like that, starting in this period, Nintendo made games that were not hard to beat, but had extra challenges for advanced gamers to get the most out f the game. Kirby's Dream Land 2 for the GB also did this well. Mario games continue this kind of thing today. With the lowering the overall difficulty today, I really appreciate the extras like that. Great and highly detailed review! Wish I had the ability to put into words exactly what I like about a game so well.

I think I played Kirby for all of 20 minutes as a kid in the 90's so I wasn't sure what to expect when I finally snagged this cart a few months back. I assumed I would enjoy it, but I wasn't expecting the game to be so good. I agree with the difficulty. Nintendo really seemed to get the "8-bit hard" thing was a relic from the 80's and console games didn't have to follow quarter-munching design philosophies. Challenge could be created in other ways, like completion bonuses and extra modes. While playing this game I kept being reminded of the New Super Mario Bros. series and Kirby really helped me figure out why I find that series so compelling. Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for the comment :)

When I played this again on the Switch, I was super impressed. This is peak level, world and game design. Something fun I tried was floating as little as possible and it was very fun figuring out how to traverse the levels without that move!!

Howdy Kris! I just discovered your channel recently, and I gotta say your videos are some of the most informative, well-put together game reviews that I've ever seen! The attention to detail you show in this video as you carefully go over each of the game's aspects, worlds, pros, and cons is simply remarkable. Keep up the great work, mate! 13:40 The ufo is introduced in level 1 - stage 1. There is a hidden door at the bottom of screen (where a waterfall is). It is also in world 4 and I think in world 2. There are a lot of hidden doors that lead to hidden areas in this game. The funny thing is that I found the UFO in stage 1 long after my nes days.

Definitely try Kirby Superstar for SNES. It's still regarded by many as the best one. Certainly its one of the best, no doubt about that. I'm not an enormous Kirby fan but I do like that one enough, I play through it all every so often My favourite Kirby game though by far is Kirby's Dream Course for SNES. It's a spinoff but it's great. It's basically a golf game, but in a very bizzare style. Kirby is the golf ball, and you have to kill enemies to reveal the hole, and there's always room for improvement to try and lower the amount of shots it takes you to beat any stage and get a lower (better) overall score. It gets addictive.

Oh so that's how you get the hard mode on this game. I actually got this Kirby game much later than when it came out and much later than several Kirby games that came out after it. in the 90s I grew up playing Kirby on the Gameboy and the SNES and wasn't aware of any Kirby games on the NES. I ended up downloading this game to my Wii in the late 2000s and I have since play It Again on a Nintendo switch which I stupidly lost back in December, but there is a way to play the game on the hard mode immediately on the NES online service on the switch which I haven't tried yet. I might try it when I eventually replace my switch.

My favorite 2D Kirby game by far. Since the GBA one is a remake, it is also very good. It is even better than Kirby's Dreamland 2 and 3. It's hard to choose by favorite 3D Kirby game. Kirby 64 is good. So is Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot. I think Epic Yarn might be the best one though.

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts is a GREAT example of a game that's not bad just because it's hard. They give you enough time to react and you have to time your jumps right. There weren't too many enemies on screen to make it bullshit. Everyone I talk to who says it's bad or it's too hard I just think in my head "Get fucking good.", I was 4 when I first played it and okay I was bad at it first time though. But I got the hang of it and continue to love this game to this day, and I must say it's still my all-time favorite game too.
@duffman184 жыл бұрын
Yeah that game is hard but in a completely fair way. It's just a memorization test. Once you have it all memorized you can go through it all without getting hit once. It's just a very long run of trial and error play throughs until you've learnt it all.

6:30 You don't need to inhale that block. You can slide to break it. 23:44 Yeah, this is an issue with the game. When I take damage from an enemy, it's usually because my attack didn't trigger properly.

I love what this game did for the series And the music and graphics are great BUT - I didn't enjoy this game nearly as much as I had hoped, coming from modern kirby games -1. Button input isn't always registered (yes even in the 3DS classics version) -2. Kirby is sluggish, he turns really slowly unless standing still and slides a bit every time he does so, greatly reducing the response time on some enemies which results in some hits taken that you, the player could avoid but the game itself won't let you -3. Offscreen: enemies (like fast waddle dees) sometimes just suddenly appear from the edge of the screen, making it hard to react while sprinting unless you know they are coming. Also, going up, missing a platform only to die on the edge where you know there's a platform. I call this kid icarus syndrome (or doodle jump for younger people) and can be very frustrating especially the first few times you do the kracko bossfight as you cannot see the platforms above until you reach that screen, making falling down or hitting a starman quite likely, again UNLESS you kind of know where they are. -I bet this game was great when it released, i bet it is great to nes enthousiasts, who put up with these kind of designs and love it. (Again see kid icarus) And I bet it's still fun for people that grew up with this game (because they know pitfalls and other bs) -But to me, a guy who picked his first nes game up 3 days ago (this game) I fail to see the current hype and high regard that it gets. -Conclusion: pick it up if you really enjoy nes titles or kirby. If not, appreciate it for what it did for the series. Please note: My opinion is based on the 3D classics version. I enjoyed dream land 1 a lot more than adventure.

@CharlieGiaretta6 жыл бұрын
He means when you defeat Meta Knight his mask is destroyed and it's revealed that he is a kirby too. It's a nice touch, but as a character he isn't really explored at all in this game anyway. Great video on the game, I think you really nail what is good/bad about the games you cover!
@geschnitztekiste41115 жыл бұрын
It's also a cool touch that Meta Knight sometimes shows up and gives you the invincibility item, indicating he's secretly on Kirby's side.

one of the 3 or 4 nes games i actually consider not to suck. i much prefer it over the game before, many games after and the remake. there are some questionable things obviously like being able to fly over 90% of early leveldesign if you want to and the bossrushmode almost being unbeatable without a glitch(the remake did not even fix that and just nullified the glitch. nice...not). but it is still fun and highly functional. also,one exception i actually find to be superior in the remake is dedede having an amazing theme instead of just the bosstheme
@kellyashfordtrains26425 жыл бұрын
There's no other puffball in this game universe who could possibly be cuter than Kirby. In later games, Kirby had a voice. "Hi," he would say to you. Some exclamation sounds got in on the act, as well as an echoing scream that he'd utter when defeated. No other character matches Kirby's cuteness.
@SQGReviewShow6 жыл бұрын
I love this game. Definitely one of the few NES games that only got better with age. I love replaying this game over and over, although I do prefer the GBA version since it controls a little better. But tbh, I think Kirby looks best in this game. All the environments are so vibrant with my favorite world being Orange Ocean. This is probably my favorite video of yours, Kris. I think that the worst level for 100% In the game is Orange Ocean level 1 as trying to get the hammer through the first to is ridiculously difficult. There's also the turtle boss with the throw ability (my favourite in the game) but the floor is covered in water so it's very difficult to try and beat them.

I consider this game a prime example of good graphics don't make a good game. The game looks amazing, but the graphics give the game slowdown and input lag. Because of how fast Kirby moves and the input lag you will constantly slam into enimies. This ruined the game for me. I recommend the GBA version.
@Amotiger6 жыл бұрын
The 3D Classics version of this game on the 3DS removes the lag, so that's best for a more authentic experience.
@andyukmonkey6 жыл бұрын
The graphics themselves don't make the game slow down. It's probably more to do with the code behind all the sprite objects on screen at once. Of which there are usually loads when it slows down.
@Fattydeposit6 жыл бұрын
You can't really complain about slow down. It's a technical masterpiece with very few NES games having as much going on graphically. As far as input lag - I'll admit - I've only played the 3DS port - but emulation will ALWAYS introduce some degree of input lag. Using original hardware on a CRT TV or playing a proper port will be the only way to totally eliminate this.
@scrubbadubbins48956 жыл бұрын
bumtree The game looks fantastic and it is impressive. The lag wouldn't be that bad if Kirby didn't move so fast. The presentation is fantastic, but the gameplay flaws just ruin the core gameplay for me.
