My parents bought their 4 runner for 30k back in 2003 and it still runs well! They use it as their daily driver, and have not had any major repair other than replacing the AC.

Love my 2015 limited with 140k no issues. Mine is the 4wd version and I always get over the EPA rating of 19 mpg on the hiway unless I’m towing or have a carrier on the roof. My average mpg since new according to the computer is 19.3 mpg which sounds accurate since I check my mileage by hand often.

Basic is key. I'm still trying to kill my 97 4runner but it just takes the daily abuse we give it and rolls on. Not as safe, refined, and tech rich as our 2021 Highlander Hybrid Platinum AWD but every Toyota and Lexus I've owned has a unique purpose.

The 4Runner and the Land Cruiser are both long running designs. However, try buying one new or pre-owned. They are both extremely expensive and hold their value like literally no other vehicle on the market.

Why in the world you buy a 4Runner in 2wd. That decision is probably regretted by a lot of people. My wife and got our 2022 trd off road in luna rock and we love it. It was causing problems at the dealer due to everyone wanting to have it.

@@JRS8964 Yes. They are definitely out. My wife and I originally ordered a 2021 TRD pro and Luna wrong but we’re told that it was probably not gonna be feasible and we switched it over to a 2022 TRD off-road in Luna rock.

These age so well. Remember the huge grill that looked funky at first on these?? I didn’t like it at first. Now that other automakers bring out trucks and SUVs that have even bigger grills than the 4runner, it makes it look so much better looking each year. The silverado and suburban grill, BMWs kidney/Bucktooth grill, and others out there that are even bigger/funkier looking than the 4runner.

My 21 Tr4 alerted me through the Toyota app to check my backseat. Left a full 5 gallon water jug back there. I've never had the backseat alert come up on my screen though.

I like that rear cross traffic alert my Camry XLE has it... If you are backing up and it senses a vehicle and you don't put on the brakes it will brake for you. It has did that for me two times so far.. One time I never even saw a vehicle coming.. It is a great safety feature.⭐👍 Toyota has some great safety features that Vehicles costing $70,000 plus do not have.

Even though I don’t need Blindspot monitoring or even power liftgate and other tech gadgets that cars have today this one would be certainly beneficial with the 4runner being a big midsize. Especially parking next to bigger trucks when it’s a little difficult coming out reversing. Even the camera itself that I have could be better but no complaints here and grateful to at least have a camera.😅

@@Anomize23 For a while I didn't use some of the safety features I had .. but after a while I began to appreciate them and I begin to notice and use them. You can't miss what you've never had however I will say I hope to have them in the future as well..

Thanks so much for your videos, Jeff. They are informative and fun. I wanted your thoughts on the noise level inside the cabin of a 2022 4Runner Limited trim, especially when accelerating on the highway or while going uphill. I recently drove a 2021 TRD Off Road Premium and the cabin noise was a big bummer. Now, I know that the engine is exactly the same across trims, but I was wondering if the Limited has any additional sound abatement/dampening going on? Thanks!

Limiteds are full time 4WD. You keep saying 2 or 4. The other levels are part time 2 or 4.

Just got my Xreas shocks replaced after 105000 miles..... had 250 miles left on the warranty and the dealership replaced it under the warranty. (Its an extremely expensive suspension) Thanks Toyota!

I love it because it’s basic but it’ll last 20 years. The lady who does my hair had one drove it until it had 300,000 miles + and then it started having problems. More than her money worth out of this vehicle. Definitely purchasing one. Wish the mirrors were automatic to fold in.

I wish they had it with all black interior. My wife has a 21 nighshade and I know the design didn't really change but but I wish they would have blacked out that metallic gray inside. Otherwise the camera and blind spot features were great additions.

My Raptor has bsm and cross traffic alert, as well as adaptive cruise. Use to all three now and will not own a vehicle without them.

Glad we got our 21 nightshade limited. Didn’t know at the time it would be discontinued. Wife’s only issue is she wants the bsm. I like the birds eye view and front camera . However, not enough for me to trade it in.

The blind spot monitoring is cool. With that said, Toyota should not have waited until the end of cycle to add it. I have a 4runner so not hating on Toyota, just give us this stuff sooner please.

Thanks Jeff for the latest 4Runner Info. Although the Nightshade Trim is discontinued. The redwood interior which looks Antique looking and very dated should have been discontinued first. Do you know if there will be other interior options for the Limited trim level? Thanks again for the great reviews and keeping it real.

Yes, you can get the Limited in a Redwood Interior, a Black Interior, or a Tan Interior.

Thanks for the video! Can anyone confirm which 2022 4Runner models come with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)? I keep seeing conflicting information on this. Some videos say all 2022's have LED DRLs, but a different video of a 2022 4Runner TRD Sport shows that it has halogen DRLs. No one seems to have a consistent answer.

Love the 22 T4R and I'm looking to replace my 99, but the wif wants a subaru for MPG! and eyesight. BSM is ok, (turn ur head) but where is the lane keep assist that is on Highlander safety sense 2.0 and 2.5! RTCA and camera is appreciated but in reality, safety is still behind several years of other toyotas. Keeping me in the lane during momentary lapses is best feature IMO and the 22 lacks it.

Hey Jeff, Why is SE Toyota charging for Toyota Care and calling it ToyoGuard? Your dealership is ordering it with that option from the port. All new Toyotas come with Toyota Care: 2yr/25K factory scheduled maintenance and 2yr unlimited mile 24hr roadside assistance included. What am I missing besides the “Port” always trying to add overinflated pricing on their “Port Installed” options, I understand the those options but charging for TOYOTA CARE?!?!

I get this is a "nice to have" ... but with my mirrors adjusted properly, I have no blind spot with my 4R. So, "meh" ... Cross Traffic alert, that is more useful IMO.

Most people will have to drive these 4Runners for extended periods of time. I would trade some of these niceties for a driver thigh support extender. Highlanders have these for a while...why not in a 4Runner?

I agree. Depending on where you sit relative the pillar, you could have a pretty big blind spot. I do have a blind spot where I sit despite being thorough when turning/changing lanes. I’ve been surprised at times that a car was there that I didn’t see which now makes me super paranoid. The BSA is missed by my 2021

@@robintxn I don't buy cars. SUVs and trucks mainly. I had blind spot motoring on my Tacoma, was is it a useful feature while it lasted? Sure I guess, but I still turn to my neck and used common sense

@@DrewskiOne Yes. I agree with you. I do the same. I always look around before changing lanes or making a turn. My mirrors cover most areas but there are still blind spots and in heavy traffic sometimes turning your head around to check the blind spots can be risky. Its good to use technology for our safety so I feel BSM should be standard in all vehicles.
