I also appreciate all the guests you bring on here to share their perspectives on the music. If people want to rag on someone for mispronouncing a name, it only shows their immaturity, and I commend you for not putting up with it. How can anyone say that it’s disrespectful to Layne Staley’s memory to like the new Alice In Chains? That’s ridiculous. It’s like saying that listening to Brian Johnson-era AC/DC is disrespectful to Bon Scott. Nobody would ever say that!

I completely agree. I see a lot of argument back and forth on many fan bases like the ones mentioned. Queen is another example. Queenbert isn't Queen in the traditional sense, but if they wanted to continue without Freddie as Alice in Chains has without Layne, that's completely their call. They know it's a new chapter of the book that is the band, so to speak. As long as the existing band members truly enjoy making music, their decision to do so only keeps the memory of their late band members alive for future generations and there is nothing wrong with that.

@Peter Bowers Believe it or not, I distinctly remember people being resentful of Brian Johnson for what they thought was an inferior singing voice, having the nerve to step up as the band’s new frontman or even audition in the first place. To the dismay of these self-appointed genuine AC/DC fans, Back In Back became the second highest selling album of all time, while the ones who would “get it” shared in the heartfelt dedication of the new album and lineup to the memory of Bon Scott. I also seem to remember people getting all bent over the changes in personnel with Van Halen and Black Sabbath. In a whole other area of rock music, I never once heard another group of fans bitch about replacement players in the Allman Brothers Band

Pete has one of the most chill album and band discussions on the internet, idk how people get offended by what he or his guests say. I honestly don't understand why people get mad about such inconsequential stuff. I mean someone's opinion on a band or show or movie or book or whatever has literally no bearing on your OWN opinion of it. It's like people think everyone has to agree with them so they can feel "validated". Sports are the same way and I've always been a passionate sports fan and I've literally wondered to myself how fans of certain teams can hate fans of other certain teams because they are ultimately playing THE SAME GAME. I'm a die hard Steelers fan and I get all bent out of shape about things the Steelers do and it literally means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

You're right. Mostly I wonder about that stupid people. How do they think that they can impress someone with their weird opinions? Sometimes I also have correspondence with such people, but only on youtube (!) and mainly about political aspects (regarding circumstances here in germany). Even then I try to be as polite as I can, hardly! But I think these are just people upset about "have to be PC" in normal life and they believe the internet is a space where they finally can throw their "hated", faked political correctness overboard. These are people no respectable person ever would lend an ear to outside the internet, where they are secured by anonymity. Perhaps these are just poor pitiable small persons no one ever listens to!

@@dannobman07 I've always kind of viewed it as a side project as there's no Jon. Great production and Trevor Horn does a good job on the vocals. Both he and Downes as big Yes fans had apparently wanted to write some material for Yes for a few years so the writing is bang on, sometimes listening to some of the introductions I can almost hear Jon come in on vocals. Often 'favourite 'albums have that tag because they resonate with a particular time in our lives or a set or person circumstances. There are some artists that I have a favourite album by although I regard another album as being a better album. For the record Close To The Edge is closest to my heart.

Paul Welch Well said ... Thanks for your response ! Drama did come into my life at a very good time ... Certainly a big reason for my fondness of it . But also for it’s wonderful production and material ... Too bad the 1980 Drama tour did not fare as well ... or so I’ve heard .

Megadeth is my all time favorite metal band, so naturally I loved Jeff's contribution to the band. Having said that, hate to see all the negative bullshit slung his way. Hope Jeff sticks with it. I enjoy all the guests. This is my first channel I check out on KZfaq to unwind after getting off work. It's really simple, people, if you don't like something, go somewhere else. Let the rest of us enjoy the music we love.

Pete, your videos have motivated me to go back and listen to some music I have neglected for a while (Focus, Moody Blues and others). Good on you Pete (and Jeff). Love u both and just please continue what you do for us. I’ve learned to love more bands through suggestion than I have any other way.

This is my first comment after watching for about six months… I love your channel! I’m a working musician I was born in 71 a little bit behind you Pete but sort of grew up in the same era… While I’m not much of a metalhead I do get down on Black Sabbath and I always knew Judas Priest was awesome it’s because of you I’ve gone back and listened and I realize they’re amazing same thing with iron maiden and I could go on and on and on…Of course I don’t agree with everything you say but I love the way you break down music analyze it and entice other people to do the same keep it up brother! I understand your sentiments 100% and also agree. I also agree with some of your fans saying that basically you’re always going to have assholes in the crowd… Those are the guys that get thrown out of the club the party whatever perhaps now this forum… Their loss! Thank you so much keep up the good work I know most of us out here love what you do! Peace!

I love it when you have guests on the show, it makes me really feel like I'm part of the conversation. I love everything about your channel Pete, some people just need to learn that opinions dont always make them superior. Sure, opinions are welcome as long as they are without hostile intent. Such as you say "I can see why thats an album you like, but this is why I PERSONALLY do not like it." Respect other's opinions. I'm actually not a metal fan. (Yet, I'm just now getting into it and I'm actually starting to really enjoy it) but I still enjoy listening to you guys talk about it because I can see how much you guys are passionate about it, and seeing you guys be so into this kind of stuff entertains me on its own. I love hearing your opinions on albums I've never even heard of before just because of how darn fun your videos are. And that's the true value of entertainment. We love you Pete, and all your guests. Tell them they are ALWAYS welcome, because I really enjoy seeing them on the show.

I agree Pete. There is no need for petty negative commentary. I discovered your channel back in January of this year and it has gotten me through the COVID pandemic. I have learned a lot and have been checking out bands that I haven't heard in a long time. Incidentally, I have actually received a few snide comments on some of my comments from a few of the viewers and I didn't really appreciate that either. Anyway, keep up the good work and keep us music lovers informed.

Thanks Pete, I totally agree with you. In my 68 years, I've loved certain bands & artists, then over many years my taste in music has changed/expanded, I always loved to find 'undiscovered gems', it was mainly via the bargain bins in what is now becoming rare in the UK, record shops, these albums were cheap because not many people 'got it' couldn't understand what they were listening to or just didn't like the sound. Since finding your channel I've been, with your help, introduced to new bands/genres etc, as you say I don't like everything, but I love the 'journey'.Thanks for putting yourself & guests out there & please continue. Music should be & is for most, a great 'leveler' bringing all ages & all varying peoples together in a mutual love of a universal language.
