Just wanted to give a shoutout to BSJ for this great video. Finally hit immortal just now after 17 years playing the game (from DOTA 1). Just in time for the announcement of TI11! Looking forward to make it to the event and hope BSJ can make it too. Capping my journey with a picture with the best DOTA teacher will be amazing hahaha Keep it up BSJ!

I had a teammate yesterday that kept feeding into dire boy t2 when we were 20k ahead and was flaming team when he was ursa and we’re trying to rosh. We lost that game. Wcyd as an oracle. I tried explaining the basic formula of taking objectives in a game of dota. But he was to busy tending to his ego as a 10 year veteran. Really wish I could send him this video.

As someone who's always had issues wandering around aimlessly in Dota once towers start breaking and the teams start roaming the map, just the idea that map control skews into a vertical line makes so much click into place in my head, and gives me something to start looking for when watching games to actually learn how and why teams move as they do in that phase of the game.

BEYOND OVERSIMPLIFIED VERSION OF MY NOTES (Dire POV): Step 1- take top turret (for juicy jg camps) step 2- take T2 top tower and T1 mid (post 15-20 minutes if strong enough) step 3- roshe (otherwise taking more objs (even w/ powder) is too risky unless fed) step 4- take back botside and push enemy botlane w/ aegis and smoke to play both lanes step 5- 2nd aegis to end ig (idk what highground means extra: yes im a league of legends player and tbh idk if its the best idea to follow what i wrote bc ive only been playing for like 2 days

Most games you will take Rosh before taking tier 2 mid and tier 1 offlane tower and flip the lanes and if you are strong in team fight you can let them not flip the lane and if you are weak you can let them flip and farm somewhere else. Flipping and ganking helps when there are immobile carries in the other team which forces them into the base while you take the whole farm on the map and take roshan for high ground push. If there are mobile cores in other team then you should pressure the high ground.

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is, when enemy dire takes our safelane tower (like they should) they now control our jungle and instead of simply controlling dires jungle and playing on the other half the map like BSJ teaches very correctly, my fking team loves to walk into our jungle into enemy vision and either get killed and flame me for not helping or starts a team fight and forces us all to respond and we get team wiped because we are fighting in enemy vision. It is incredible.....

At first I was unsure whether these high-concept strats had any bearing on uncoordinated pubs. But it is as you say, these things are required to progress the game - so if you do them consciously and your opponents do them by accident you have an advantage.

They work because it also is semi-natural. The carry will leave the safelane on average to go jungle because the offlaner hits 6 or w.e spike and can kill. So naturally the safelane tower will fall.

Big correction, in the games most folks will be playing, you can just chip down the enemy offlane tower occasionally without much issue. It doesn't even have backdoor so if I'm a high mobility pos1 I'll often just start hitting it to bait a rotation if I'm near, and just take it if they don't defend which is common.

STUDY ON THE BSJ'S IMPORTANT OBJECTIVES VIDEO, WITH CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT PATCH 7.34d ----------//---------- Summary, for your convenience: 1. Considerations on the Video; 2. Author's perspective on objectives of 7.34d; 3. List of General Objectives in Dota 2 in order of priority; 4. And thoughts on being able to adapt. 1. CONSIDERATIONS ON THE VIDEO It is at least one year old, so before Twin Gates, which means reality in the current patch might be different in some scale. The logic behind it is still valuable and insightful. Why am I writing this? To learn. Please feel free to correct me if you believe I'm wrong or to sum your opinion. 2. OBJECTIVES OF 7.34d The author risks to say they are similar to previous patches, except now you should ward the surroundings of the Twin Gates (TG), Advanced Outposts (AO) and be prepared to evade or fight when pushing for objectives. Also: - There are AO's in the Offlane Triangles; - Tormentors (from minute 20 and every 10 minutes after killed), which I believe raise the value of the Enemy Offlanes (EO); - A lot more Neutral Camps; - And Lotus Pools - convenient regen(eration) in the lane. In other words: - Tier (T) 1 Enemy Safe Lane Tower (ESLT); - T2 ESLT and T1 Enemy Mid Tower (EMT); - Roshan for Aegis; - T2 EMT and T1 Enemy Offlane Tower (EOT); - T2 EOT and enemy's Tormentor; - Second Aegis (and other rewards); - Push for Enemy's High Ground (Mid is priority, as usual); - Push for Victory. Other lesser objectives, such as Wisdom Runes (every 7 minutes), cannot be left behind. Don't delay the victory, as ever. 3. PRIORITIES LIST Take this as a baseline, which may vary and interchange. - Enemy Throne = Victory; - Towers, necessary for Throne and space = more neutral camps, resources etc. = Competitive Advantage in pushing for other objectives, such as closing items in timing (CA); - Roshan = Aegis and others = CA; - Tormentors = Aghanim's Shards (sparing resources for your team and denying for enemies') or gold and xp = CA; - Wisdom runes (WR) = experience = CA; - Bounty runes (BR) = gold = CA; - Power Runes (PR) = varied effects = survivability/ganks/space = CA; - Lotus Pool = convenient regen = CA; - Enemy heroes* = gold, experience, space = CA; - Lane creeps = gold, experience = CA; - Neutral creeps = gold, experience = CA; Space equals where you farm = CA. Experience equals levels, skills etc. = CA. Gold equals items, buybacks = CA. *This was placed way below to highlight risky and unnecessary greediness. 4. UNPREDICTABILITY FACTOR Dota 2 is a complex game with many aspects. A proof of this is that it is constantly getting updated in such depth that even objectives change. In patch 7.34d, there are elements that were not present in older ones, such as AOs by the side of T1 Safe Lane Towers (SLT) and Offlane Triangles (OT), raising, the author believes, the occurrence of conflicts. Moreover, playstyles vary depending on the level of ability (MMR) of the players involved in the match. For instance, in the lower bracket: - It is normal, from a long time, to see teams playing in ‘their’ jungle, as if the ‘borders’ of the game hadn’t changed after the T1 SLT fell, making, the author supposes, unfeasible to play in the ‘correct’ part of the map, even for more experienced players, as they would be too far from the rest of the team. - The Offlanes are interestingly contested a lot more earlier. The author believes that one of the most noteworthy aspects of 7.34d are the AOs, which create kind of a grey-zone* around them, since heroes of both teams can easily teleport to theirs and then cross the Twin Gates and go to the other side of the map, making the ‘traditional’ playstyle of, for example, from Radiant’s perspective, pushing top lane, very risky, as they could get flanked. Therefore, even if there’s a meta way of playing in 7.34d, and even if there was another prior, it is necessary to adapt to the reality of your current game. For example: if your team is playing around their safe and midlane from minute 15 forward, but they shouldn’t, play around them anyway, and try to either make them go to the right place or disencourage members of your own team to go somewhere (completely) else to farm. *Grey-zone: a place of competition which belongs to nobody. ----------//---------- The author is currently a Dota 2 Guardian 3 player with 1007 MMR. This text was originally made in a more appropriate format, which is currently unavailable for the public.

BSJ could you make a video from team perspective. Everyone always makes videos based per position, so as hard support you should focus on this, as offlane you should focus on this. But what about video that would look at it from the team perspective. So for example "After laning stage, pos 2-5 should start grouping up more and make space for pos1" or "As the rest of the team is making moves around the map, it is important that the pos1 tries to stay within reach, so they can connect if it looks like a good fight." - Something like this could be very beneficial to kinda understand how the team should optimally react to different scenarios, and not one position at a time.

It is indeed the basic knowledge of dota that everyone should know, but doesnt. But as for me I have always wondered why regarding the knowledge in this video the roshan pit is located in the radiant safe location. Even if you are winning the fight for roshan as dire(which is more difficult as you dont control the area), it seems that your next objectives are much further away (which usually should be t2 bot)

Dota2 and other moba games is fundamentally a game of resources. You gather resources in two ways. Direct and indirect. You kill units, your team earn gold and exp. Or you make the enemy team suffer droughts on gold and exp. The first war is always on the drafting phase because it allows you to pick generals(heroes) that will secure your army (team) lots of resources for the war.

- This guide is pretty much effective in party queue. Doing this in the solo queue, unless you are immortal, would not be easy. I was Divine 2 in party queues, even a 3-man party queue. I used to play with Ancient to Immortal pos 2 players. Sometimes, Archons as supports. I am pretty much an effective pos 1 player doing most guides of BSJ if I play with them. But when I played solo, it became too difficult for me to climb because I got used to my old homies' gameplays. There was one time that I noticed a crusader pos 2 player who played like Immortal but could hardly climb all by himself. When I played with some Immortal pos 2 players, I could even carry the whole game for them as they already failed against a better smurf player. There are also times that I would play (in the solo queue) against an Immortal pos 2 player (me as a pos 1 player) in the lower bracket. Despite they are immortals, I would know how to deal with them, if and only if my team is doing great even though they are naturally in the lower bracket. I was able to prove that they were Immortal when I added them and they added me to their main accounts. This makes me remember when you, BSJ, played with Neeman (Stronger Makes Me Pain), you still lost the game despite you being a top-tier Immortal. Why am I saying this? For example, if would play in a 3-man party queue, my pos 3 player would apply your tips of like creating better spaces on the map to give me efficiency as his pos 1 player, who happens to apply your tips, too. And if our pos 4/5 player is also applying your tips, there is really a big synergy and higher chance of climbing to higher brackets. I hope that you could make an analysis of this situation. There are really some players even if they are in the lower bracket could still play well, and could climb smoother in party queues, even if it would take slowly. Probably, try accepting coaching sessions for party queues. This would give us a fresh outlook on your Dota 2 content.

@@osteoporosis7274 - I want to emphasize all my thoughts well so he could give importance to this situation.
