Hi! Great tutorials! My question: how do I make sure that Excel document columns are imported as text? I was trying to change the field type to text in Excel and then importing the table/sheet, but it still shows as Double. Cant make it change scientific notations into text for some reason. Thank you for your videos!

I think I do explain that in another video, try looking towards the end of this one...kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f5mKfZmbudmxmYk.html. If you change the field type in excel it should import as a text field. If you continue to have trouble, you can just create a new field and copy the contents into that new text field in ArcGIS.

Hi, this is very helpful! I have a question, I am trying to import my excel data into my map, but when I click on my excel file I don't have anything that says "sheet 1" like you did. it says my "container is empty" what does this mean? How do I fix this?

I'm not 100% sure why it says "container is empty" it might be the version of Excel you are using and/or the version of ArcGIS you are using. A possible solution is to save your excel table as a .csv file and import it into ArcGIS that way.
