Hi there, after going through a nightmare trying to find this Martin guitar in the UK I gave it a shot at importing it from an overseas music shop in Germany.
Tips? Keep on top of it. Monitor your shipment/order everyday, remain in touch with both shop & carrier so they know you're onto it.
I looked everywhere on KZfaq trying to find out people's experiences with importing guitars but couldn't find anything so this is my (amateur) attempt to show you how guitars are packaged & a bit of the unboxing of the affordable (aka. cheapest) Martin X Series D-X1E Mahogany.

Seemed like amature hour to me. Didn't know terms, tried it before tuning, whats the point of plugged in tone demo with an admittly poor amp. There's a lot better.

@@thesantosevans guitar guitar, I think it is sold out so I might get it in a month or so lol but I’ll wait patiently.. looks good. I can’t afford it really but I’ve always wanted one.

@@bennevis6843 great! Price is down which is always good. What I would recommend is to be on top of it and in active communication with them. GigGear fooled me around for 2,5 months only to say "now we don't have an estimate and don't know when or if it'll ever arrive".

@@thesantosevans I’ll be on top of it, I think they will order it from somewhere and most likely won’t arrive for a while but im not waiting 5 months. How was the action for you when it arrived and do you like the guitar

@@bennevis6843, depending on what they say to you it may be worth it to see if you can find it anywhere else in stock. I almost ordered the Koa version because I could find other 3 UK shops that still had it in stock and there are some helpful KZfaq videos of it. 12 days now and its great, hasn't seen much action due to Covid, but been playing at home and I do not regret the purchase.

I own a Martin D-X2E. The X series are great sounding and affordable guitars. I love the sound acoustically and when plugged in to an amp.

Awesome! I’ve been thinking about upgrading now, but still to a budget friendly one like the D-X2E. Which one have you got?

@@thesantosevans, I have the D-X2E which features a spruce top and HPL back and sides. It's available in a natural mahogany finish (which I have), rosewood, or koa, or a sunburst. The wood is only a reference to the pattern on the back and sides. They're HPL (high pressure laminate) so they all sound the same. I think the actual spruce top in the D-X2E is worth the $100 price increase over the D-X1E.

No comment on the action. Martins are known for high action out of the Factory so any comments on that? Also a plastic strap pin is a bit cheap. The metal ones are inexpensive. Nice vid tho

thanks for the comment. I don't think I'm qualified enough to judge the action, but imhu its not bad (I've had worse). What I do with new guitars is simply take it to a luthier and ask them to lower the strings for me. Although I could, I never do it myself. This is a cheap Martin so although it does keep most of the Martin brand quality, I would expect anything they can save on, they will.

Does the DX-1e OR dx-2e come with an allen key? Great video BTW.

Sorry for the delay. It doesn't come with an allen key and apparently there is a trick to it. If you look for the truss rod hole, you won't actually see the truss rod nut. According to some guitar forums, years ago Martin changed the depth of the nut and it is now much deeper and it takes a longer wrench/allen key to adjust it. Not sure why, but I just looked into mine with a torch and it was almost impossible to see the nut, but it is there...

Hi there! Thanks for asking. I'm no expert but I would say it depends what you want it for as well as for how long. I am a Martin fan and always recommend it as even if you are not super into it you can always sell it and someone will want it. Crafter is a good brand so if you are able to, head to a guitar shop and try them both! Whatever appeals the most, grab it!

"Lets see if its actually tuned" should be detuned for storage, pretty basic guitar/instrument knowledge. Complete novice to expect a guitar to come pretuned out of the box.
