I raise and sell grass fed, grass finished beef. I would try the impossible burger if I was convinced it was actually good for you and the price was right but it's going to have to be really good to beat out grass fed, grass finished beef.

Although Impossible Whoppers are good I actually liked the BK Veggie Burger better. The BK Veggie Burger was more affordable which meant that I could order it more frequently. 🖖

Great interview. I’m a big fan of plant-based products as a near vegan myself. My motivation was always to avoid harming the animals. However, I loved two things in this interview. Appreciate that his goal is to take market share for meat rather than the other plant-based companies. And I like the fact that they should promote it Using nutrition and price rather than just feeling good about yourself for eating plants

havent seen it at walmart or dollar general. which is the go to for rural communities. we are half the country, but larger companies don't go here because not enough persons for capital. I only order the impossible at BK now though. as the burger does in fact taste more like beef than the beef products in other burgers. And my gut feels better and have more energy after eating it than the other burgers.

He dodged the question about who they are actually selling to, the whole "x% of y is a lot!" is a common tactic to make you focus on the larger number instead of the fundamentals. At the moment they and the other plant-based companies are competing for the same market and cannibalizing each other. When people (and startups) were flush with pandemic cash many customers tried it and found it lacking, or at least didn't prefer it enough to pay a premium. For the startups, the cheap debt meant they could buy space in the stores and not stress when it didn't sell, it was always "if we can only get a small percent of this big industry..." but it's all clearanced out and gone. It's nice if they are a little cheaper than "grass-fed organic" beef, but the people buying that are also aware the plant based products have nutrition issues and aren't really healthier for you. Which leaves you with a small market of affluent consumers who are big into not eating meat but want things to taste meat-ish and a bunch of companies burning money to be one or two players in that space. A similar product that was dirt cheap would be being used to stretch burgers and other things like bread crumbs in meatloaf and seeing real volume, but that isn't where we are.

That whole animal testing thing couldn't have helped them specifically. I know that there are too many companies in this space given the market share, but those who eat mock meats for ethical reasons will consistently consume these products, where others may just try them, or eat them once in a while.

I had an Impossible Whopper at Burger King. I did not like it and I wouldn't choose one again. I've had some great veggie burgers/sandwiches in my time, but none of them pretended to taste like meat.

Real Whole Single Ingrediant Food is the KEY. I believe all Impossible food products are processed and not natural. A carnivore and heavy saturated fat diet is NOT the answer but a Real Whole Single Ingredient diet is the answer. This means yes to organic and farm raised meats, ocean caught fish and also a big yes to Vegetables and some fruits, nuts, etc.

He sounds like a jerk. He also discounts all of the reasons that people might want to buy it and then says we are just going to target meat eaters??? With what when you want to dis all of the benefits. Basically you want to still appeal to the health, environmental, and cost with a softer tone.

@@austinseph1 Beef consumption doesn’t cause heart attacks. The Malthusian elites (and the scientists who advise them) probably funded and set that narrative so that people would consume less meat for the benefit of the environment.

Better question is why would you think that it does? It's a myth that keeps being perpetuated (especially about soy) even after studies showing that soy does not increase estrogen levels. If anything science shows plant based foods lead to higher libido. Testosterone levels stay the same. The myth is just perpetuated by fear and ignorance 🤷
