I don’t like that he went to that extreme thinking it would be funny. What he did was put the joke at risk. I know I’d begin to think there was an angle to the sudden resurgence of fame if I saw a 3rd guy just “roll on up” with his arms overloaded with sacks of bread Normal people carry smashable goods, like bread, in a buggy, or one of those baskets. AND they don’t drop their grocery items on the floor like Sal did. He way overdid that making it not funny. And then Murr’s stupid ass… “recognizing” Dave Jacobs from the other end of the damn store yelling his name. They about blew their own cover

Co-host of the show Brian Quinn (comedian) announced in an interview that David was his favourite new person on the show, and would make a comeback in its upcoming ninth season.

I loved this entire setup, the prank went right out of the window as soon as they saw it was actually a world breaking athlete. The first thing the crew thought to do was to hype him up as a celebrity (which he kinda is) in the store. I can't imagine Dave's joy in this moment. It was probably diminished somewhat when they told him they didn't actually know who he was and it was a prank TV show but after this episode aired Dave Jacobs' KZfaq videos blew up in popularity. Like 1 million views to 10 million overnight. He got credit he absolutely deserves. You're probably already doing it because of how substantial the claim is but KZfaq David Jacobs and you'll see why he isn't well known because he was an athlete in a sport that was much smaller than it used to be but also one thats still kind of obscure. He deserves the recognition, he excelled in a sport that's considered a woman's sport alot.

He obviously knew it was a joke. He almost never got recognized and on the same day he gets recognized by 3 different people at the same time. He peobably thought it was still cool and funny.
