Impression techniques using A-Silicone are of two main types:1-Step: where the impression tray is seated once into the patient's mouth and putty and light body polymerize together, and2-Step: where the tray is inserted twice; first with putty and once the material is polymerized, the light body loaded tray is reinserted to obtain a wash impression. Typically, 2-step techniques involve the use of a spacer or putty cut back to achieve the desired space for light body. However, clinicians often suffer from flaws inherent to both these methods.
In this short crisp video, I describe a modified 2-step impression technique for recording all maxillary teeth during a full mouth reconstruction case. Herein, I have tried to combine the 1-step and 2-step techniques, so as to benefit from their individual advantages, while also overcoming their shortfalls.
