Wonderful video!!!! I don't really have an art style since I lack a lot of art skills and have been trying to dabble in realism since it's one of my favs. Gonna try to include these tips and see how my penguins turn out. :)

Great tips Daniel, I recognise some of my issues in there, particularly rushing and trying to do the detail too quickly.

How do you recognize when you’re finished? I’m always critiquing my art and seeing places I should have continued working on. Also, do you have a favorite brand of brush & paint?
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife 2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a particular favourite brand, I just have a collection of random brushes😂 as for finishing a painting, I have an idea of what it’s going to look like in my head then when I think I’m done I leave it for a few days to see if I’m happy, if not I work on it some more the repeat the process. There’s always something that’ll need changing you’ve just got to think about if those changes will actually have an impact on the final piece

I would say that more important than color is value and you don't even touch on value. You could pick random colors with a black and white filter and as long as you do the values right, it would look realistic even if its a mix of blues and greens.
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife Жыл бұрын
I agree, but in this case colour is used to generalise hue, value and tone. Most beginners will be unaware of the terms used in colour theory so a basic overview was all that was needed for this video, I do have other videos going more in depth on the importance of value, including adding black and white filters to check the values are correct.

Daniel, have enjoyed your "tip" videos. One question - your long white whiskers are perfect on this tiger. How do you get a solid long line like that? I was trying to paint some fireworks with long lines and they came out gloppy - you could see thru to the canvas in the middle of the line and on either side it was thick paint. Did I use too much paint? should I have watered it down? Thank you for your help! Teri
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Teri, You have pretty much answered your own question there, You would have to thin it down and then maybe even do 2 or 3 layers so that it appears a solid white colour.

I've been following you recently, are you applying an extra layer of gesso on the canvas, or are you using it as already prepared ...
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife 2 жыл бұрын
This one was just as it was, But I sometimes do put a few layers of gesso on then sand them down if I want a smooth surface to paint on

Hi I am severely handicap so I am having a mobility restriction a lot , but I would love to paint with acrylic paints, may I use watercolor hot press paper to reach a realistic artwork or having you other suggestions bc I can not work on vertical position on a easel! Tky to answer me, Canada Quebec! Best wishes and keep being inspired! ❤😊

Hi Danyel, I paint on hot pressed watercolour paper in quite a few of my videos. It’s definitely possible to create realistic artwork on paper I use it a lot of the time for my acrylics studies or sketches. You should check out my latest painting video of the galaxy scene with some deer. It’s done on hot pressed watercolour paper

Oh, now I'm a little confused. I've watched the videos where you block out the colors first, then start on the detail....and I've just watched your video where you are painting a white tiger and (after doing a wash) you start with the details by painting the fur in white, then you go back and do light color washes to create the color areas. Which do you recommend? (Thank you for your help!)
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife 2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your preferred approach, the white tiger video is my most recent painting where I was trying out that new technique of white details first then glazing colours over the top. I think for future paintings I will be combining the two methods, a coloured block in first then a layer of white detail then more glazes of colour over the top. hope that helps 😁

How long does it take you to do a piece like this? I find myself very impatient and feel like I'm doing the layers wrong. Do I just trust the process?
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife 2 жыл бұрын
This piece took about 3 days of painting, I voiced over the full process for my patreon. I think it’s just a case of push on and work past the thoughts that it’s not looking good, it will eventually come together!

I'm not a professional or any thing but I think you should get a better microphone. Your art is so good and I think if your audio matched that your videos would be even better than they are. Just a suggestion, thanks for the video!
@StudioWildlife
@StudioWildlife 2 жыл бұрын
I have actually got a very good microphone, it’s the room I’m filming in that’s the issue, I am learning ways to edit the audio but there is nothing else I can do about it at the moment. So hopefully it’ll improve over time
