The title is so true. Timing is everything. If I had shown up at my house just 5 minutes later the other day, my hamster would have died. It was choking on some dog treats I left in its cage, and I had to give him the Heimlich maneuver to save his life. Was a Very stressful situation.

This really works, and you really need to be coordinated to do it, lol. Helped me a lot to do it in slow motion over and over again but to each their own. I am 50 years old with 5 grown boys that are just as competitive as I am. They are so much stronger and more agile than me but good form keeps me in the game and they have to respect that I may beat them any given round. This guy explains the reason you need to implement these tips in an easy to understand way. I really appreciate you sharing all these videos.

It's the left arm. It starts after the foot hits the ground but before the arm moves forward. This creates another lever, by compressing your chest. This is the source of the extra power. Everyone knows how to throw with their throwing hand, and is set in their ways, knowing where their power is. What most don't know is how their movements lose momentum or otherwise create parasitic drag. Most throwers use their arm to make up for their lack of mechanics. There is more power that comes from the proper mechanics than from the strongest arm in the world. Even on the shorter shot clip, Paul moves his OFF HAND FIRST. This brings that arm's mass into the center of mass for the rotation, making the power bubble bigger. It's like a car, knowing where is is powerful enough to juice it. The effort of the thrower to "throw harder" is not the way. The effort to compress the motions into effortless mechanical smoothness, using all the tricks of physics to increase the equation by putting bigger numbers into it. The first instinct will be to increase effort across the board, but this is where we all fail, for that is not the way. The ways we try to add power also take power away from somewhere else, or cause loss of balance which leads to power wasted on compensation. My biggest failure is generating enough power to throw to the moon and then stomping it into the ground and bracing off almost all of it until I tweak my knee and my foot can't even rotate. So direction of the energy generated is easily diverted by things like loss of balance and overcompensation with the arm. When you zip across with the arm too fast you will beat the body's rotation and only be throwing with your arm. Most people cannot exceed 400 feet with just their arm, but take heart, you are getting a lot out of a little. There is no one part that can be juiced enough to make up for the power lost overall so there isn't anything leftover to share. Each part has a finite amount of time to exist, and the connection between them must be smooth. You might not feel if it is working or not, but you will notice results amidst effortlessness. Make sure all your efforts to "go big" are set aside as ego-driven mistakes. Instead, endeavor to make everything connected, and fastest at the end, so all the effort builds gradually towards one shot, not several parts, delivering energy to them individually and leaving them unconnected.

Very well spoken. Thank you for the break down on this level. I tend to make up for lost power so often. I haven’t ever even thought about it much. I just know I want to break the 400’ mark easily and often. I just can’t get there. I really like the way you described it. Now I understand that I’m trying to use my arm to make up for lost timing. Thus causing me to sit at a Plateau of 350’ with bombs getting to 380’. I have always known my body is the rubber band yet I never charge it up and then release it correctly. This video and your wording help. Thank you.

This channel is so underrated, Im somewhat plateauing in my distance at about 400', I can get it further, but I lose all accuracy at that point. This might be what I need to work on to keep my accuracy beyond 400' and also being able to disc down to mids quicker where I feel my game really shines. My mids go just shy of 350' with 95% power today, imagine if I could get my mids to 350' with even less power and also being able to stretch them out to 380-390' when needed.

Getting back into it after a 4 yr hiatus, and changing so many little things in my form with all the new info out there and this is def one of em. Can emulate the timing well on standstill shots, getting my weight moving forward off my back leg before full extension and creating that good lag. And boy do i feel the efficiency of it. Throwing standstill 200 ft upshots with a putter with hardly any effort. Gets wonky when i add my run up though, even when I'm doing it slow.
@ScottFichterrRandom
@ScottFichterrRandom 10 ай бұрын
I think a huge part of timing (equally as important as extension and front leg) is how you curl your wrist so the disc gets the snap on release. That snap (disc pulling sensation at release) adds a noticeable amount of distance on release.

I tore my upper back flank muscle in high school baseball on a hip landing first slide. I remember my physician telling me there are tendons in the hip and leg that share connecting points to your back muscles. So this makes since of having a foot anchored first before extending

When getting my body trough and starting the rotation with my trail arm, I struggle with not giving myself enough space. The disc ends up hitting my left peck or shoulder when trying to move into the power pocket. Probably has something to do with my reach back and shoulder rotation, but I honestly don't know. *** I also have short fingers, so finding a consistent grip and getting the disc nose down feels very unnatural in my hand and with my wrist. My forearm ends up being too tense during the throw trying to keep the nose down. It's definitely one of my biggest frustrations. I'm constantly re-adjusting and thinking about my grip every shot. Nothing feels comfortable enough for me to just grab a disc and know I'm gripping it properly without forcing something.
