Where the right hand goes, the arm will follow properly. The pinky never needs to put pressure on the bow.

I agree that when you are on the string pinky has zero role in weighting the hand. But when you pick the bow up, or do any bowstroke that goes off the string, the pinky needs weight to balance the bow.
