My friend offered to "work on my lathe" while I was on vacation recently. What he did blew me away. The work station is dramatically improved. The height was raised making it more comfortable, and some guards were installed to prevent chips from getting where I don't want them. Here are links to a couple of other videos I've done on my lathe:

Nice improvements. I just purchased a 7x10 mini myself a few months ago. I would like to know what quick change tool post you went with?

Nick Riggs I went with this inexpensive Jinwen Kit. Serious machinists would never buy it but it’s been great for the small jobs I do. Here’s a video about the set I bought: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJZkfrydm6iRhpc.html

I've been to Stuart. My aunt lives in Walton Beach. So not too far away. I haven't been there in a long time now. Turns out I might be going next month though. I'm trying not to but I may have to.

@@JimmiePorterAtStuartArts I'd love to. It sounds better than what I have to do there. Which is see my convalescing uncle while my wicked aunt is around. Family obligation, you know? But how can you say no to your own mother when she says she wants to see her brother one more time before he goes? Really how can I put it to her because I'd love to get out of doing this. heh Yeah expect me there in about two weeks. I ain't getting out of this one.

Stormey Lane I've had great luck with this machine, but I kind of think this might be too coarse for the kinds of work you're doing. You might key word search "jewelers lathe". There are quite a few options for "micro lathes". They are more precise and are designed for small work. Good luck!

I see why he changed the lead screw guard/cover. There is not enough clearance to put the cover he made so nice on the apron gears. May make a new lead screw cover.

Very nice improvements, I hear these small lathes cost around 500$ these days, someday I hope I'll be able to get one for odd projects.

Yuval Lahav Woodturning: that's about right on the cost. I'm not a machinist but I seem to use mine on a near-daily basis.
