This is so good. Encouraging. Not what you sometimes see "this piece must go here, light and dark, colour opposites, straight and bent, - rules. Sometimes it is a bit like "paint by numbers". This practice tip is easy and - intuitive.

I am in Louise Fletchers Art Tribe and this month's Masterclass is on being stuck...which I am...this 2:25 video is a great exercise to get going and just focus on what the materials can do. Thank you! 💕

Give yourself permission to play without the pressure ❤🙌😊 In my late 50’s, such wonderful advice. Thank you for this Jane 🙏. Makes me think of a “jam” session for musicians. 🎷🪇

Exactly! That is what I love about jam sessions (which I participate in a couple times a month); it is not a performance. You are free to go out on a limb, try new stuff, sound terrible or great or anything at all. And it takes a lot of focus.

Wonderful - sage advice - taking a break from the capital "W" - "What does this need?"

Thank-you! Just did a couple. Fun seeing the surprises. Your "no hesitation" advice was extra helpful in letting go completely. Freeeedom!

Easier said than done, but drawing like this, in a sketchbook, is good practice.

This process reminds me , somewhat, of a Markov chain. ( i.e. Wiki states that a Markov chain, or Markov process, is a stochastic model describing a sequence of possible events in which the probability of each event depends only on the state attained in the previous event. Informally, this may be thought of as, "What happens next depends only on the state of affairs now."). So an interesting link, perhaps, between art and math. Thanks for your inspiration Jane.
