Here’s a little bit of everything in this one. It’s all related though, so that’s the good news.
We had a great night with the guys last night at the Shawn Camp Band gig in Leipers Fork at Fox & Locke. Joe Glaser, Otis Gibbs, Alan Messer and JJ came out as well as many other characters.
It’s not often you see a new white Ferrari parked outside a meat and three country cookin type joint out in the sticks. Only in Nashville. The adventures continue!
Thanks for being a big part of this online community and for all the positive feedback and support!

I love how you wake up and probably have no idea where you are going to take it on KZfaq. You just start playing in G and you say “hey look at these cool things you can do in G.” Love the improv.

Amazing lesson as usual! I bought a 2013 custom shop 63’ Gibson 335 reissue last weekend . The guy I bought it from had a great discussion about KZfaq and the best instructors were from Nashville. He asked me if I ever heard of Guthrie Trapp and I said he is my go to guy that I have learned so much from on KZfaq and Artistworks! 👍🎸

You are the most pleasing guitarist to listen to man. No two ways about it. Your tone is so stellar... Your note choices, all of it!! Like Uncle Larry said, "It's like wrapped in Egyptian sheets!" That is an amazing endorsement, GT! And he's absolutely right!! Thanks for the share kind sir!!

Note choices and chord voicing aside (I agree, it’s just crazy), the ways he subtly varies his attack, his inflection is just nuts, the touch. It’s like he’s having a conversation with his right hand.
@Sammywhat

@@TheBoomtown4 So true! I've been a huge Pat Metheny fan because his touch is so unique, and Julian Lage is also a master at all of the subtleties mentioned, but there is something about GT that is even next level above that. And that's saying a lot as I really like so many guitarists - and great ones at that - from Van Halen to Segovia! Oh and what about Guthrie Goven? But Mr. Trapp has something going on that really is blessed! What an amazing time to be a musician!!

@@guthrietrappmusic just getting started with your videos , and I’m completely sold hehe , one question … I’m understanding that the triads / inversions of them as you move along your highlighting through your suggestions which are arpeggio / pentatonic / scale … is the scale your leaning into the key of whatever chord progression your in as you move through the chord progression?

There are so many guitar tutorial courses on the net, you've just got to find one that connects with you. (Whenever an add pops up with "Guitar Tricks" in the blurb, I can't click skip quick enough!!) Guthrie your philosophy, style, tone and listen-ability (if thats a word) really hits it for me. ArtistWorks awesome! KZfaq videos keep me inspired! It's one of my goals to get to Nashville and watch and listen to yourself and all the other legends play for a few weeks. Coming from New Zealand it's quite a hike but I'll get there. Thanks Man

Man, I could listen to you chewing the fat on just about any topic, doesn’t matter that I don’t know the places or most of the names, you’re just a born storyteller. But when you get onto the guitar talk I now really pay attention to every word, you always say something, might just be in passing, that really clicks a switch in me. You made a comment recently about aiming to land in a chord with your fingers the way they’d be to play the chord and I‘ve been working on that nonstop since. Even after just a few days, I‘m seeing an enormous improvement. I mean ENORMOUS. Lads, just batter them Subscribe, Like, Share buttons for this man; beat them like they owed you money. Just LISTEN to him. Need a couple of new guitar practice t-shirts (yes, it’s a thing) so I’m now gonna buy me some. Thanks for another great vid, G! 👍

Just watched this video again with the sound off and kept my eyes just on your hands. How have I never spotted this before?? Never been more motivated to correct this problem zone in my own playing. I recommend it by the way (at least once with sound off). I‘ll probably account for a few hundred views on this lesson, easily, so once or twice without sound won’t hurt. That’s my target fluidity. Beautiful to watch even when you can’t hear it.

Wow. Can you break his down more in another video? Maybe a video dedicated solo-ish stuff over only one or two chord shapes. Great stuff and this hits the nail on the head on how I like to improvise and how I’d like to progress. But this presentation is too advanced for me. Been playing a long time and gig. I’m usually the singer and playing rhythm but I try to throw in lots of licks over a chord shape while playing… but not nearly to the level as what you are doing here. Thanks again.
