The Celtics are an incredible team with amazing chemistry, every single one of their entire starting line up can put up at least 20 pts on a good night + a solid bench. There’s no doubt that they can lift the trophy this season as long as everything clicks, JB is on a hot streak, Tatum has a lot to show the world, Jrue has to prove the Bucks GM that they were wrong etc etc, with all that being said, Mavs in 6

Thinking about every Dallas loss this postseason. clippers: clips shot 60% from three and made WILD contested shots the whole game. Didn’t do that again for the rest of the series. Anomaly. The other loss, Clips started crazy hot from 3 like game 1 making an absurd amount of 3s but blew a 33 point lead and Dallas almost completed the largest comeback in playoffs history if PG didn’t hit a contested fadeaway 3 from behind the backboard. Thunder: first loss, Thunder legit beat the breaks off Dallas in the second half and made more threes in that half than they did for the rest of the series in a single half. Anomaly. Second loss: Dallas lost a nail biter but had their worst free throw shooting game of the season. Luka missed a game tying free throw with seconds on the clock. Anomaly. Wolves: Dallas lost another nail biter, but were without arguably their third best player who played a huge role in equalizing the effect of Minnesotas size advantage. He also didn’t miss a single shot the whole series. Got him back the next game and blew them out. Why write all of this? It’s taken anomalies to beat Dallas this playoff run. No team has just played a regular game or overcame an off night to beat them. They’ve had to fire on all cylinders to get a single W. These teams were all 50+ win teams and with the exception of the Clippers, HEALTHY. On the flip side, Luka had his worst two playoff series EVER the first two rounds. Dallas won games where the opponent made 12 more 3’s than them and they shot 23%. They won games where they were out rebounded, shot less free throws and a lower percentage. They didn’t need huge games to win, they just won. The best part… they weren’t even favored. I’ve got Dallas beating Boston in 5 and shocking the world. Luka will have the rightful title of best player in the world. He may even crack Stephen A. Smiths top 5.
@ashuriaatojudo
@ashuriaatojudo 2 ай бұрын
This is such a well-thought out insight. The reasons you brought up are probably why Dallas were heavily unfavored throughout the entire playoffs. They get to some ridiculous anomalies like only shooting 23% from the three and still winning. Which nothing but a time traveler can correctly predict and analyze. It's always Dallas losing or disadvantaged in the bigger picture.

I think Joe Muzzulla has done a great job maximizing this group talent this year. This team is different and more difficult to guard is by posting up more and punishing switching coverages if that’s either posting up Tatum, Brown Porzingis, and sometimes Horford. A lot of there 3s have been when the defense has doubled out of it now your playing advantage basketball. I think Tatum and Browns growth playing out of the post and getting to there spots is much different and more effective than seasons prior.

Despite Minnesota having the best defense in the regular season, their offense only performs at an average level. When facing players like Luka, defensive prowess often takes a back seat. Conversely, in their series against the Thunder, they struggled due to OKC's decent offense. When defense falters, the key is to outscore the opponent. This dynamic could be a significant storyline. Fortunately, the Celtics possess ample firepower. Here's hoping everything falls into place for them. Let's go C's!

This is a reasonable take from a Celtics fan. I'd just add that, out of the entire playoffs, the OKC series was the one where the defense was so physical it aggravated Luka's injuries (not to mention the face plant). As a Cavs fan, I'm rooting for Luka and the Mavs, but my real hope is that it's a competitive series that sees both teams vindicated. The amount of slander against both teams downplays just how fucking hard it is to get to (and win) the Finals.

Agree, Celtics needs to basically pound the Mavs continously until it became unbearable to chase at the 4th quarter... If they dont get a big lead fast, they'll lose. Simple as that. have you watched first 2 series luka played in post season, both of them were his worst games of any playoffs he ever played, he played worse than his average and they still won. meaning his team can carry some weight when needed. if you think it will be easy to stop their supporting cast you have not watched any mav games. lively gafford derick jones and pj washington are amazing. also we cant forget the basketball wizard.

This video really put in perspective: How the hell are the Mavs going to beat the Celtics? This year's C's give me 2018 Warriors vibes. Everyone in their rotation is great, feels like the damn Avengers. Kyrie is and always will be my favorite basketball player of all time. Luka is Luka, a damn generational talent, and the rest of the Mavs are no joke. But, too many things need to go perfect for the Mavs to actually win this series. This is my first time saying the Celtics are going to win the finals. Just like everybody else, I'm usually hating on them, but this year they are legitimately a different breed. If they lose, I will genuinely be at a loss for words. Best of luck Kai.

the mavs have only lost on shooting anomalies from the other teams, they beat the 1 seed, went 2-0 against a relatively healthy clips (and then kawhi couldnt play) and beat the best, if not the best defensive team in the nba (DPOY, and best perimeter defender in the league), luka, kyrie is unstoppable. doubling them opens up the wings or allows for a lob.

I got celtics winning in 6 games. While Luka is clearly the best player in this series the celtics have the better overall team. Nice channel. If you think Luka can dawg out Jrue Holiday for 40pts, I have to kindly, yet vehemently disagree. Even if this was possible (not), any coach in the nba would take their chances with that since he won’t be getting his teammates involved in the process. Now, let’s bringing Luka’s issue of being out of shape and then having to work on the defensive end versus a 5 out offense where all 5 can best you in 3-levels. Not done flipping this either… Boston is NOT the timberwolves. How many defenders can Boston throw at Luka??? Now, how many defenders can Dallas throw at Tatum (name your best defender). Now, who’s that 2nd defender guarding Brown (ok,)… now Jrue (do you get where I’m going with that)? See yall Thursday night.
@cookiefp
@cookiefp 2 ай бұрын
He scored 37 against the Celts in march with Jrue. He could easily get 40 depending how they play him. DAL play a team defence, it has held up well enough so far. Think you're being naive to write it off so easily. Both OKC and MIN fans said: "We"re not the Clippers/Thunder" to the Mavs. Didn't end well for either of them. I see Celts fans saying "we're not the Wolves" now. Every opposing fan base has underrated and been ignorant about the Mavs. Boston, rightly favourites but I think it's very silly to be so over confident against this Mavs team.

You said it perfectly. I got the Celtics in 5/6 but they have to make sure they don't go in the final minutes of clutch time in a close game with the likes of Luka and Kyrie on the floor or the Mavs can really push this to a 7 (maybe even shorter) game series. I think clutch time is where the Mavs will get their wins.

Completely agree about Celtics needing to beat themselves. Perfectly stated. If they are 1) disciplined on offense -- don't throw away possessions and attack Dallas' weak points 2) smart on defense -- don't try to play 2v2 drop like Minnesota did 3) don't have a major injury 4) and have normal shooting variance then I just don't see a realistic path for Dallas beating them short of Luka and Kyrie averaging 75 per game. Boston simply has too many answers.
