I don't know the language very well, but this is a banger video! Man comes out thanking his friend, then not only explains what iMT is but also why it's so hard to find information on this tech, because I didn't know it was patented by Hyundai. Proceeds with a detailed demo starting with the creep function, has perfect camera placements with synced overlays, and does extreme tests to see how "intelligent" this thing really is. Best iMT video by far. You should add English subtitles for more reach!

All the sonet iMT variant from HTK+ to GTX+ has Hill hold assist. Hill hold will be active for only 3 seconds. Within that time we need to move our leg from brake to accelerator.

I want to add a point to what you said about Hill Hold Assist in Sonet IMT. Its functionality actually varies by the inclination of slopes. In regular bridge slopes, the car comes down a little and moves forward as shown in the video. However in steep slopes, if you stop and release brake, the car doesn't move an inch for 2-3 secs. Then press accelerator smoothly to move forward.

Hi Birla, this explanation was really useful.. I think you missed to explain one thing.. the lag in reverse gear while in up slope of reverse.. I want to know how the iMT works when we need to take an upslope reverse (while there is hardly space in front to move)..

I guess Sensor that send signal to actuator may be linked to gear rod.when we give certain amount push to gear rod it activates sensor to signal actuator for clutch function..it is just guess..

I own venue IMT it works beautifully and gives good comfort and drivability, I believe soon all manual will be replaced to IMT.

Hi Birla, I want to point out something on HAC feature of iMT Sonet as I have the same vehicle. It does features HAC (Hill-hold Assist Control) where when you hit the break on a climb, the vehicle holds for 3 sec to help you provide acceleration. I too had this same confusion since most of the time the vehicle crawls and checked with service center, where they told me it will do HAC only when the vehicle is in a state where it cannot crawl (1st gear) and it depends upon the climb. So I went ahead and checked in a steep climb and it worked. HAC will get activated only when some conditions are met, to be frank most of us are unaware of it.

The purpose of Hill hold is not only to hold cars on hills alone... But on every incline where the car has a chance of moving backwards.... If you have to go to service centre and get info about its presence i would say its not doing its job well then!!!! Just my thoughts!!!

Good work sir. From my point of view, Manual is always better. This is something like AMT only with different name. Vehicles should not roll back in bumper to bumper traffic regions. Also its not good for hill areas. AMT,IMT and all automatic cars are good for people who doesn't like or good with manual gears.

மிகவும் நன்மை. More accident problems are in cluch. all ready tvs jive bike கொண்டு வந்தாங்க. TVS ம் மீண்டும் 150cc & 200cc bikes ல கொண்டு வந்தா நல்லா இருக்கும். அனைத்து கார் & பைக் இல் கொண்டு வர வேண்டும். பேருந்தும் & லாரிகளில் வந்தாள் நன்றாக இருக்கும்.

This gear technology is basically Manuel gear shifting with semi automatic clutch. This is not new, similar setup was introduced in Honda Cub motorcycle in 1958 sans electronics.

i have a GTX+ iMT, the hill hold assist does work, but as you said there is a slight roll back. I always use the hand brake and disengage it when the car starts the crawl

Thanks Bro. Iam also looking for Imt car. New gen sonet comes with Hill hold assist. But both sonet and venue imt is made with turbo engines. Seltos imt comes with NA engine but only in one variant HTK+

Tiago AMT has a very good creep function. It never reverses even in steep ramp seen in flyovers.

Bro its not a creeper function. This is because the idle rpm is not enough to climb the inclination.

sorry Sir, i bought a Venue Imt in July 23.. within 1.5 yrs there is gear issue, my car was in workshop for one week, and since the car is under Warranty, there is no charge, but on long run this IMT is not reliable..

@Birlas - Can you check Venue IMT SX ? ... Because I own an IMT SX Venue (without hill assist) - The Venue rollback is minimal even in case of SLOPES . I also have driven in Yercaud - there is absolute ZERO rollback . while driving an IMT - When you take your leg fully out of brake - the creep is engaged. VENUE IMT is superb.

I don't think it works on touch sensor where you touch the gear and it disengages the clutch, instead I believe, the clutch disengages immediately the moment you shift the gear.

I am having an iMT Sonet, with my experience it is the best available automatic for two reasons, 1. Maintenance 2. Mileage (no auto gives better mileage) I tested all available tech, CVT or AT(TC) is best in automatic and iMT is for those who want no clutch with more control. It is been speculated that in future most cars will be moved to ACMT (Auto clutch manual transmission). I am happy with my experience!
