dont know if am the only one, but somehow all this stuff about the void century and history being erased clicks in a strange way. As if right now in the chaos of the current world we kind of live in the same situations? Somehow i feel like our own history has been adapted to the status quo and we lost memories of who we were, adn there are people pushing for that to deny our freedom. I believe that one piece is somehow a metaphor born out of oda's insight on our modern world

@@SalvaTheGod81 Oda is actually working towards the biggest reveal and meta in the history of the contemporary world. The WG is a stand in for the Powers that Be that currently control the whole world. When the story is about to end, he will drop the big bomb and reveal more blatant parallels between those who run the WG and by extension the One Piece world, and (-(-(those)-)-) who control our real life world. After he does that, those in power are going to be assblasted by this, and the people who have made it that far will see the parallels, and then wonder... did we have our own Void Century in real life? So, there's the big possibility that Oda himself might get prosecuted and One Piece censored all throughout the world, and some kind of "golden age of piracy" will begin where people will search far and wide to find the true history of our world. The Ancient Kingdom is clearly a stand in for Mu/Atlantis, the lost technologies inside the One Piece world are a reference to the people rediscovering lost technologies that get silenced, and this will turn the whole world upside down.

@@TheThOdOr1s See I'm not so sure about that. Vegapunk worked for them for years, he has implied in the latest chapters that he doesn't want to judge the Gorosei as "good" or "evil". That may just be the amorality of a man dedicated to pure, unrestricted science but I don't think that's the case. A number of times the World Government has had the opportunity to snuff out threats or cut off loose ends and either someone escapes or people are allowed to live for seemingly no reason other than incompetence. I wonder if the 5 Elders are really at the heart of everything, Imu or no Imu. I wonder if they aren't acting out of some twisted form of compassion, one that's been warped by over 800 years of timeless existence.

The scarier implication here is that Imu considers knowledge of her(?) existance to be more of a threat to her power than knowledge of the void century. That knowledge only warrants a buster call, but anyone overhearing that Imu exists is grounds for literally erasing everyone and everything in the vicinity.

Once the straw hats and vegapunk found out that [redacted] was supplying the gorosei the power source, they stopped them and tied them up.

For me it’s not just the destruction itself but the implication that the country is being wiped not just off the map but from the very history books itself, with the gorosei planning to rewrite history again. It’s one thing to be destroyed, but to be forgotten is something else entirely. Like what hiruluk said about how people only really die when they’re forgotten.

Because the build up and implication of the entire scene is insane. Most shows desensitize you to it by mindlessly having scenes like this all the time, but when it happens in one piece the build up and narrative around it is insanely well constructed. Oda is a genius in storytelling

Under the surface of the quirky/funny story the true depth and darkness of the world is so deeply stemmed from our own world that even whole arcs depict a one to one nature of things going on in the real world (ie dressrosa and china)

But if you have indeed some similarities between Lulusia and Enies Lobby, it's not with the same weapon.

@damidotjawad352 how so? Uranus was likely used during the Void Century as well and Lulusia's scar in the ocean refuses to collapse like Enies Lobby leaving a circular waterfall. The only difference is a large portion of Enies Lobby's foundation survived the bombardment which is odd, but there would probably be a reason (Maybe a powerful prior user of the Barrier-Barrier Fruit?)

The thing that makes this even more terrifying in my eyes, in one piece you do not see many on screen deaths. Most major opponents just get knocked out or get put in a spot where thy don't influence the outcome of the arc anymore. This scene is different. Each and every character from old to young, king or civilian, is explicitly shown before the destruction begins. In this instance it was shown that they are all just dead. No playing around anymore. The fact there is practically no escape from this weapon is horrifying. It obliterated Lulusia in what felt like seconds. You have to be nowhere near the island when this weapon goes off. And even if you're not on the island, the tsunami wave that follows is more than enough to capsize nearly any ship in the vicinity regardless of size. This weapon gives The World Government some terrifying power.

As of Chapter 1116, we now know the scariest part of this scene. Previously it was thought to be that the Gorosei are always listening to all broadcasts... nope. Previously it was thought to be that Imu would obliterate and erase an entire island if even a single person knew they existed... nope. Previously it was speculated that said power was a weapon built by Vegapunk... not quite. No... Now we know... The scariest thing about this scene is that not only was this an ancient weapon being unleashed, but said weapon was being powered by a fraction of Vegapunk's "Mother Flame". Get that? A fraction. A FRACTION! From that, the entire country was obliterated in seconds, a colossal hole was punched into the planet that HAS STILL NOT FILLED WITH WATER! And it triggered a planet-wide earthquake that caused global sea levels to rise by 1 meter. THAT is Apocalyptically horrifying.

Either way, soon neither may have a place to go since, recall the prophecy of Fishman Island being destroyed by "someone with a straw hat". If Fishman Island is lost then those above and below will have nowhere else to go if the world sinks.

@@cycosist5156 That's a nice sentiment... but it's unrealistic. The whole point of the Buster Call is that there is no escape, everything is supposed to die. The reason it takes so long is because the technology it utilizes is kinda primitive. The Mother Flame is just the next step in the Buster Call's evolution.

Pay attention to the color of the sky and of the monarch butterfly, Blue and Green respectively. Thus this is likely hinting at Uranus being the name of what the mother flame fuels
