Teenage girls are universally hated, lindsay ellis talked about this in one of her videos but essentially anything related to teenage girls (twilight, hannah montana, etc.) is constantly ridiculed. Everyone has an opinion, but no one scrutinizes the actions of young boys as much as girls. Like people make fun of that Jacob kid (the one who sang sweatshirt??) but they have a visceral hatred for girls like Danielle and Jojo.

I got sucked into tumblr when I was like.. 12, and I regret it to this day. I WISH I had let myself be like Jojo and just not cared about what people had to say and been myself and been a kid. people need to let kids be kids for as long as possible. I can't relate to the "when I was 15 I was childish too" idea, because when I was 15 I was most definitely not childish and had already been through a lot of tough shit, but I'm all for someone holding onto their childhood as long as possible. I didn't get the opportunity. At 16 I was out of school, working 2 full time jobs and trying to help my parents pay their mortgage so they wouldn't loose their house. We mentally age differently. Being a teenager is hard. I remember those days. The reality is most people in middle or high school are really insecure and a lot of them don't realize the weight of their words and how it effects other people. I think a lot of that bullying happens because kids just want to fit in and have a secure place and have a social standing so they give up their integrity just to feel accepted. Don't give up your integrity. You are allowed to like what you like and not be shamed for it. If you have confidence for liking what you like it can actually give bravery to those who are afraid to step out and admit they like it too....those people might even be the bullies who don't know they are bullying.

This is completely off topic but I just noticed in this video that your hair matches the cherry blossoms (?) on the wall behind you 🌸👌 I remember being 14/15 and feeling a lot of pressure from my peers and really from society in general to “grow up” and act older than I was, and it definitely hurt me during a time in which I was already struggling a lot with how I saw myself/who I wanted to be and how I wanted others to see me. Now that I see today’s 14/15 year-olds having to deal with similar things on the Internet, which as we all know can be extremely toxic for kids, as well as in peer groups, my heart just breaks for some of them. That’s why people like Jojo give me hope in a way, because they aren’t afraid to be themselves (in other words, to be children) despite all the hate. Anyhow if you’re still reading this thank you for coming to my rant I’m sorry it was so long here’s a cookie for your trouble 🍪

I relate so hard with what you said about expectations on kids to grow up. I've always felt like my younger sister 'grew up' faster than me which is a weird feeling....

THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading this!! People should not be shamed for liking things a child would like-I still love LPS and I'm 15! I feel like a lot of people will go with the popular opinion just to fit in, since the haters are probably young. I think this video might make them rethink their ways

I'm glad you made this, I came in skeptical because I have watched so many "everything wrong with jojo siwa" type videos but you helped me change my perspective on it. Thanks :)

JoJo and Danielle are products of their environment. I really doubt Jojo would have turned out the same way if she grew up the same way as Danielle and vice versa. They are probably both acting like 15 year olds within their respective communities. Growing up in a poorer neighborhood around other troubled kids will have you "growing up" alot faster than growing up somewhere else. End of the day, I don't really think it's either of their responsibilities to be role models to anyone. Also, being 15 fucking suckssssss. You're still inbetween feeling like a child while becoming an adult. You start getting sexualized WAY more, especially from grown men. They're still children and still trying to grow into who they are and doing it all while in the public eye and trying to keep their personas intact to keep their income. I don't understand why so many grown adults have this weird fetish with tearing down teenage girls like they're still in highschool. It's so sad. These girls need to be protected :(

I love all of this. Your aesthetic, you're funnny. I'm here for whatever else you got. As long as Chad gets redemption.

I'd like to point out that the "she dresses like a 15 year old" thing is maybe also cultural. Jojo Siwa comes from a dance background culturally. What is the current thing in dance culture? Bright colors and 80s throwback style. What about in hip-hop? Trap and cloud rap both have a mostly dark aesthetic. They're both acting like 15 year old representatives of their culture. Interestingly, comparing Hilary Duff and Hannah Montana to Siwa would also give them all pop backgrounds. The better comparison for Natalie would be something like Kris Kross who were 13 when Jump came out and that song had lyrics about making the listener's rump wiggle (no lie.) and jacking someone that tries to step up to Mac. I think they're both acting like 15 year olds, just from radically different sub-cultures. I can't believe I just tried to defend Natalie though.

I see a lot of her books at the bookstore I work at and like, go you girl. You've got a whole empire of products and books and ultimately business and you're younger than me (a teenager as well)? Go get 'em, I'm proud, keep spreading your good (if a little cringey at times) message.

Wearing an owl city shirt and building a Sonic screwdriver at 15? WERE YOU ME??? I was obsessed with both of those as a 15 year old.
