Thanks for the video Cameron! I am now sold on the Brads dodgers. Fished two rods the last few trips with the same setup except a different dodger on the other rod. The Brads killed it all day with the other only getting two fish.

I just started using led core line and it seems to work quite well it gets my lures down about 25-40 feet depending on how many colors you use.. when I film for my channel around where I live I only have to go down a few colors.. it isn't the most accurate though.. I'm looking forward to purchasing a boat of my own.. so I can put down riggers on it.. I feel as if it will open more content for me in the future

I wish I would have seen this video a few years ago. This is exactly what I needed. I have been using a gang troll setup with weight on the rudder. It works but I'm probably losing more fish than I need to and I can't even tell if the fish is still on until I have it reeled in.

Late comer to this video, but crossing my fingers for an answer. I'm new to trolling and am wondering why he chooses braid over Fluoro line. Both seem to have an equal lack of stretch, but fluoro has its own sink factor and is a bit thinner than braid. Is it the cost?

Thanks for the tips Cameron. I am planning on checking to make sure all of my lead is at least three feet from my dodgers and will start running lines at similar depths with your suggestion of lighter weights and more line. Hadn't thought about the line weight either which may be tricky because I have two rods with braided line and topshot and two rods with mono.

How do you figure out the depth you want to run? Lot's of variables. Help!
@etfremd4 жыл бұрын
This is very easy to get an exact depth using trigonometry and your line counter reel. You have to estimate or measure your line angle based on your speed and amount of line out. This angle and your length of line allows you to calculate the depth. The equation is sin(angle) X line length = depth. You can test this by using just the sliding weight and going from deep water into shallow and see what depth you drag bottom. But I used this method on downriggers to determine exact depth. You estimate the angle so it is very close to actual.

I always look for a clear view I can pause on to see the connections for each part of the rigging. Videos most often have hands in the way or they just talk about it and don't show it. I hope Addicted sees this comment. Because they are so great, most of the time. In fact, Cameron did such an excellent job here I am sharing this video. Thanks, Cameron.

I would like to use 1 to 4 ounz lead (weight) and small lures like Tillins Cobra or Tasmanian Devils which I know from New Zealand where I was there years ago. I like the Okuma Kokanee Black KB-C-762ML (4 - 10 lbs) but I’m not sure, if it is the right one? And could you recommend a rod with trigger handle for trolling with Dipsys or Slide Divers as well? And I should not make any mistakes, because I live in Austria and have to order the rods in the US. Thank you very much in advance for your answer, Felix

VERY GOOD video! Very informative. As for DR or no DR, I am fortunate to have them. I run 2 on my 16 ft Starcraft Supersport... currently. But before that, I ran banana weights when I trolled. I currently use Ugly Stik baitcasting rods, USECA702UL's 7 ft Ultra-Light that I got at Bi-Mart. Love them. Use for both Kokes and trout. 2 questions: 1) You add your slider then you tie on a bead chain or swivel. Which do you prefer? 2) With the Kokanee Killer, do you load up the inside with corn or anything for added scent? Thanks!

The dodger and lure setup looks like it would be very effective. In the video you mention that you have 3ft of line between the lead and the dodger. It looks like about 10-12" of line between dodger and lure, is that correct?

Im having a tough time knowing if I'm acheiving the right depth when I'm trolling from my kayak. I feel like weight doesn't take into account drag from a dodger or a gangtroll, which could make it run shallower. Could depth be more accurately determined from line angle and how much line I put out? Thank you and I appreciate your videos!
@donboyles40114 жыл бұрын
This is what I do. The line is the hypotenuse (use the line counter) of a right triangle with the legs being depth and distance behind boat. Depth can be determined by: depth = linecounter * sin(angle line hits water). Of course, it's not perfect because I estimate the angle but it's close enough to catch fish. You can also figure out how far behind you the lure is.
@etfremd4 жыл бұрын
@@donboyles4011 this is exactly how I do it. Of course I am an engineer. It works exactly. I have shown guides this method when using downriggers and they are marking fish at a certain depth and they think they are close enough to the fish but actually not. Works exactly.

I'm just getting into fishing. just curious why you dont like gangs trolls,is it just because of the drag? Also what's wrong with snubbers? I just bought a couple per the guy at the tackle stores recommendation. Thanks
@MrAcuta735 жыл бұрын
@@jakeb1778 Just a drag, literally. Takes all the fight out of it. I saw a couple guys using trolls and snubbers and doing just fine last week. If you use long glass or very soft graphite poles, you don't really need a snubber. The rods do that job for ya. So, yes, they absolutely WILL catch fish. But a dodger and hoochie do too, and do so with less mess and drag. Look at the Lamiglass Classic Glass Kokanee or the Okuma Kokanee (Cameron) Black rods. Just got a Black rod, used it last week, loved it. Mebbe even a little more than the Classic Glass. Edit: Can use the mylar flash trolls, still a tangle hazard but massively reduce the drag.
