3 жыл бұрынHad the honor and privilege to film three surprise belt promotions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Capital MMA in Alexandria, Virginia in July of 2021. There's a lot of emotion and genuine affection and admiration in this short film and it has everything to do with the character and tenacity of the men who were promoted on this fateful night. It's not often a filmmaker gets the opportunity to be a part of these things but my sincere hope is that everyone who watches this feels the same rush of emotions I had while filming it. q

Man… idk. I’m a three stripe blue belt and I don’t get why people walk away. This isn’t supposed to be easy. It’s tough. Hell I had my good buddy leave after he got his purple belt. It blows my mind.

Most people have other priorities in life than to stick with BJJ. I joined knowing my end goal was purple belt.

People stop the jits due to its not a defense art anymore . They turned into a sport . I never won a fight on the ground in life . But congrats to your team member sticking it out . The only way I will learn the jits it's not Royce Gracie nor BJJ . Only the root of it all Japanese Jujitsu you learn all aspect Judo the jits punching kicking nerve and tissue damage.

@@damonfietek4488 It seems the students need to seek the "masters" approval above all else. "You get promoted when I decide". Unless there is anything else going into these promotions that are not being shown that I am missing.

It's typical with BJJ. Lots of instructors even say the promotions are not skill based. Huge likeability factor in promotion speed.
