When it comes to shows where in-ears are not an option (the ones where you said you sometimes leave with your ears hurting). Wouldn’t some musician’s ear protection help? Maybe I’m missing something, but that sounds like a good backup to have to your in-ears if you have to play without them for a reason or another.

How much better is a custom compared to a _properly fitted_ universal? A lot was talked about how using a universal could be detrimental to hearing health, but not a lot was talked about how much a custom helps if you do take the proper care to have a proper fit.
