Lyrics: Meet Your Maker
Meet your maker
Say something that makes sense
These are your last words
So make them worth the wait
Meet your maker
It’s time to set things straight
These are your last words
Make them count or it’s too late
In time we all disappear
We’re pushed to the edge
The countdown has begun
At the end of the masquerade
Your time’s up, now there’s hell to pay
It’s only down from here
You think you have a choice but there’s no other way
Meet your maker
As you receive the final key
These are your last words
Are you ready to see what lies beneath?
Meet your maker
Everything else is dead
This is the final moment
All is done and all is said

I've been blown away by every song released leading up to this album's released. Super pumped for this album. Not something I thought I'd be saying about In Flames in 2023 given the direction their last few albums have gone. Really glad to see them getting back to their roots a bit with a modern twist to the sound.

that is some BS bro ... you can´t always live in the past, most bands don´t survive as long as they did with only making the same shit over and over every album has its right to exist they evolved yet still didn´t ever lose their mojo u may not like every album and that is totally fine, but they never lost two steps

I agree. I still can't listen through either Siren Charms or Battles. Both do absolutely nothing for me. I, the Mask was better... but still never bothered to purchase it (only cared for a handful of songs). Foregone's offerings have all been bangers, super pumped and preordered after hearing the first 3 singles.

In Flames has been around for quite some time, so you should definitely check out their older stuff. Can at least recommend Come Clarity, Cloud Connected, Only for the weak, My sweet shadow,trigger, Take this Life and Alias. In my opinion they have one of the most unique music style, but I'm a bit biased because they are one of the bands that got me into metal when I was young and most times I recognize their music within 5 seconds of hearing a song :) Keep up the reactions, loved it!

Björn and Anders write all the songs, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chris contributed some ideas in addition to solos. Chris brings a shred element to the band, which they haven't had since the early days. Björn is a badass player and his solos are always good as well. Chris' style and tone is a nice contrast, though. Tanner & Bryce definitely have locked in as the rhythm section. As someone else said, the riff in this song is similar to F(r)iend but then it goes in all these unexpected places. I saw IF and Meshuggah together last year and it was two of the tightest bands I've ever seen live.

hells yeah i agree Chris Broderick is an excellent asset in ....eh In flames...hehe he is one of the reasons why i also dig another band he was in... Jag Panzer,. Speaking of have you guys ever checked that band out... one of the better power metal bands from the states... they have more of a euro style approach to power metal but with the known aggression of the U.S power metal. Mechanized Warfare is one of my favorite albums from them. check out a song called "Frozen In Fear" sums up the best of what they have to offer.

I dont think it will be their best in 20 years like you said, absolutely not for me when albums like Come Clarity and Soundtrack to Your Escape exist within these 20 years. But, I just remembered they were releasing another album and the talk has been a little encouraging. After listening to this song I do for sure have to listen to the album, the song gives me a little Come Clarity album vibes in a few sections. I will check it out, perhaps this band will finally have the revival I have been hoping since their 2011 era. I will be more than fucking happy to finally love this band again.

@eliisaac
@eliisaac Жыл бұрын
I wouldnt even come close to calling those albums perfect... The production on them is atrocious, and the songwriting follows a very basic 4/4 time signature with poppy song structure. It makes everything feel very basic and generic and all the songs fall into this chugga chugga verse with a fluttery chorus pattern. Top it off the very poorly mixed vocals, not to mention some of the worst clean vocals, on Reroute and Soundtrack making everything sound muddled and you get some of In Flames worst albums to be honest. The only song on all 3 of those albums that even comes off decent is Dead End.

This album is better then Come Clarity? I never thought I'd hear them make an album that passes that since they went in their new direction? Come Clarity was 2006. So you say it's the best album in 20 years, that puts us at Reroute to Remain.
@EddieTHead2266
@EddieTHead2266 Жыл бұрын
Reroute to remain while being very experimental was still the last album to have that In Flames musical sound feel and framework in its writing. After that it was a different band that slowly became a hot topic product by the time playground, battles and what other conveyor belt lowest common denominator level of quality. I'm not go ing opinion history shows Reroute was where most of there OG fans hit the eject button and when the band had success with younger fans. Sounds like with this one and by releasing five tracks before release the band knew, they had something good and something they are proud of but needed to build some goodwill with their fans long gone from a yester year and would take that many tracks to assure those fans. That many was smart they k ew the resistance to trust the band was nigh impossible as old fans were hurt by their latter recent period out put to many times. Younger fans don't understand that the earlier albums if you were there to experience the 99s and the boom of the Gothenburg sound was a magical time in metal. New sounds new was to perform metal a new sub genre within death metal one beautiful and brutal. It was nothing but exciting. In Flames were at the fore front of developing that sound along with a host of new fresh sounds. Sounds like with this album the band can regain their legacy and some of the old fans with it. Having old and new fans all enjoying what is a respectful honored approach the writing of this album got (Probably pushed by Chris being a huge fan who lived the early times of the Gothenburg sound) it dues and a return to form that for first time in 20 years sounds like the soul of what and will make Inflames great again. It's like Chris found the band in the woods after being missing for 20 years. The new members are obviously huge fans and owe their ability to play and all of their influences to OG In Flames and certainly if joining the band wouldn't be right unless the raging In Flames long retired to be exhumed and resurrected. GLAD they found themselves again and now all people of all ages can enjoy together. Smart move similar to Iron Maiden when Brave new world was released. I am in for the Third Era of The Jester Race feeding the food for the gods. I'm excited. Maybe the album has an Episode 666 in it. Welcome back anders and Borjn a whole generation that lost you not only missed you but most certainly need in their lives again. Anders you resist those nu metal Korn whines now and you will be fine. \m/

@EddieTHead2266 I'm gonna disagree with you and say I hear old elements of In Flames on every single album they've ever done. Some better then others. For example A Sense Of Purpose is very old school on the guitars but what's different is Anders vocals and lyrics.

@@tylersmith2849 I hear tide bits of In Flames in many bands. Doesn't make them In Flames. Same applies to In Flames. In Flames had a crappy start to the pandemic. Flew from Russia to NZ ahead of a festival in Australia + headlining sideshows only to find out about the pandemic and a limiting of large gatherings to 150 people. They went ahead anyway, stopping ticket sales for the sideshows so they can still play for the people. The day after they announced that, NZ and Australia closed their borders and they had no choice but to fly home.

My biggest problem with the last two albums was the production. It felt flat and emotionless. The drums had very little weight where there use to be some. The snare sounded like a hitting a piece of paper. So i’m glad this album is a lot better in that value. To me the worst album they ever put out was Battles. Anders over produced vocals absolutely ruined it for me. I, The Mask was a move in right direction, but was flat production wise and had a Battles side that I didn’t like. Forgone is a definite good mix of new and old and has a lot better production. I can actually feel atmosphere of the songs. The drums actually have weight and Anders vocals don’t want make me pull my hair out. I’m definitely looking forward to this album. Just hope i’m not burnt.

I also believe that the fact we now have Halo Effect also had a huge impact on Anders and Bjorn. They are the only two members left of the old In Flames and both are not even from the begining. With Halo Effect basically ALL being passed In Flames members and them making some big headlines in the metal world. This has got to have sparked a fire inside Anders and Bjorn to explore their past sounds. Not that I think there is any animosity between them, I believe they are all still great friends. But I think this deep down got them thinking much harder. The pandemic gave them more time, the formation of a band full of your old members (and your founding member), a new guitarist, a more metalcore focused drummer all helped bring us this soon to be classic album.

When I saw the halo effect had the singer from dark tranquility and read that they were a supergroup made up of the pioneers of Gothenburg melodeth, I assumed it was made up of members of dark tranquility, in flames, and at the gates. I thought I read that in an article. Turns out I was mistaken. Regardless, I still believe that the formation of that band and their return to the OG sound absolutely had an influence on why in flames went back to their original sound for this project.
