*Glad to be born in the era of JAMES HORNER*

I couldn't stop crying through the whole thing. The world has lost the most influential and timeless music composer of our generation. I grew up with his music on all of the film's of our childhood, Casper, Jumanji, Balto, Titanic, the land before time. He always knew how to capture the emotions in a scene in such poignant manner, and his dedication to thrive even for the film's themselves that were lacklustre sometimes, was worthy of great admiration. We will miss you so much James.

Titanic, Field Of Dreams, Braveheart, Beautiful Mind, Once Upon A Forest... All composed by James Horner. Magical! As a musician and an aspiring music teacher, I salute him.

I only found out he passed away today. James Horner, Titanic is the best mega super Movie music ever. I have listened to Titanic music since 1998 and have never stopped listening to it and will continue listen to it!

What a gracious & beautiful speech from a great composer. It's so sad how died tragically (violently) in a plane crash in 2015. Horner left this world with timeless, soulful music. I hope he's playing music in heaven. It's ironic that his family was Austrian-Jewish, and he returns & feels at home. I've been to Vienna & it's sophisticated beauty is spellbounding.

It was such a great life to live in the time of James Horner! For three decades it was exciting to wonder what was next! He introduced me to orchestra with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn, and I was hooked after An American Tale. He has opened a world of music that I would have otherwise not notice, and it encouraged me through my own music education, performing, and composing & conducting experiences in Symphonic Band, Youth Orchestra. I became a compose myself because of Mr. Horner. I have every one of his score soundtracks and I dearly wished there were more. I have spent countless hours dissecting his music and studying the his techniques. For all of us here commenting on this video and all the others in the world who admire James Horner's music... we are the notes of his life and we will carry on his music for decades more! Rest in peace my friend. Though I have never met you, I feel I know you from your music. Farewell.

What a beautifully made memoriam. My emotions level ran very high throughout, especially when Deborah Cox came out as I had no idea James Horner was involved with the Land Before Time! My Grandmother passed away at the amazing age of 98 on June 19th. I had the Titanic soundtrack on for breakfast the following day and balled my eyes out all morning, then found out a few weeks later, that James Horner had also passed just three days after my Grandmother... ... To also find out he was behind the Aliens soundtrack, my heart sank even further. A tragic loss to not just the classical or soundtrack world but to the entire music industry. A true genius.

This is REAL MUSIC! The kind that reaches into your chest and grabs your heart along with your soul and your breath out of your body! No longer do they make music like this anymore... God I am thankful to be apart of a generation when music like this was music...

Gone Jerry Goldsmith, gone James Horner, gone John Barry, gone also Jerry's son Joel... How many more talents do we have to yet loose, before someone becomes aware of the immense treasure and genius we are losing, year after year, month after month, and day by day? And will they ever be replaced (if ever) by equally talented peers? I know, I may be a bit harsh here, because there are some worthy followers in their footsteps, but some are still in their infancy. Yet, if someone like me had the privilege to live through the time and age of monsters like Max Steiner, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Elmer Bernstein, Miklos Rozsa, Dimitri Tiomkin, Bernard Herrmann, and many, many others (too many to list them all here), one may understand my concern. Many of them were not just film composers, but true Classical composers as well, coming as they did, from the old school of composing. Today, many composers have laptops and many ingenious electronic devices to get what they want, while back in those bygone days, a composer had to hand "scribble" all the notes on a sheet of paper, play on the piano and then try to imagine how it would all sound once orchestrated. Some provided music for over a hundred different movies, some even ventured on into Television-Land and managed to compose even more music. An immense amount of work. Piles and piles of partituras massed up throughout more than a century. And they all, all had their special talent, their special "Sound", their individual style. Let's just take John Barry and Jerry Goldsmith as an example, they could do a Jazz jamming session, as well as play and compose on exotic African, Chinese, South American instruments, to give an distinct ambience to their music, just to move further away and get into abstract electronic music and create eery sceneries for Alien worlds or thrillers, only to return to elegiac music of the spheres, with TV intros and exits to very popular series we all have learned to appreciate (just to cite a couple: The Persuaders and Star Trek: The Next Generation). This is why I not only mourn the passing of James Horner here, but I want to celebrate his memory by listening more of his music both here and elsewhere. Some of his compositions have become legendary in their own right. My only regret is not to have pursued my music studies more seriously, otherwise I nay have composed an Ode expressly for him, but also for all those above mentioned, and all the others as well, who gave us hours, weeks, months and decades to be thrilled by, to be mesmerized by, to be entertained by. All I can say is: thank you James. You too, have contributed to make me what I am today: someone who values culture above everything else. May your soul rest in peace, and wherever you may be, wherever you spirit may be going or take you, I hope you will find others like you and be able to share in these boundless waves of creativity, which are a gift only given to so very few. May the winds of the Universe guide you. Farewell my fellow artist...

God almighty from the moment I heard the music of legends of the fall I fell in love with the enormous talent of this man. Then braveheart and then titanic. This man was a genius in our time.

"Land Before Time" was one of the first (if not the first) movie I can recall seeing in theaters. It's definitley the first I recall seeing with my mother. Since losing her last year, "If We Hold on Together" just turns me in a blabbering mess. "Land Before Time," to this day, reminds me of her love.

I will live forever with so many beautiful melodies that have been a deep experience in my life. Tough the films have been important it was his music that made the soar. The stress of aliens, the adventure of willow or mask of zorro, the epic drama of legends of the fall, the love and time of bicentenial man, the hope of field of dreams, the drama of titanic. Thank you James wherever you are... your heart will go on.

James Horner composed his life on both stage and screen. It's sad to know that he tragically passed away. He will be forever missed but he leaves behind a musical past that everyone will cherish for both young and old. He lives on thru his music and when everyone listens he's alive.

What is so wonderful about these Hollywood in Vienna concerts is a concert hall full of people, a full size symphony orchestra, and an evening celebrating the music of a living composer. Isn't that the way it should be?

Mr Horner left behind some of the most beautiful sounds in creation. The world lost one of its greatest talents this year. May human technology never fail, so that his music may last and last.

John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Andre Desplat...So many great composers, but there is just something so different about James Horner. He was different compared to the others. Like as though the music was intricately a part of him, and he just exuded that with every song. Incomparable and Unparalleled, there will never be another like him. Thank you for the music.

Just watched this concert on Blu-ray & it was great to hear some of my all time fav movie themes. I only wish they had done a few more of his compositions. But this was still a great tribute to Horner & i'm really glad that he got to experience this special night before his untimely passing in 2015. R.I.P. Maesto. You will not be forgotten.

I'm a huge film score enthusiast and I have a decent collection, but nothing is as great as hearing a James Horner score I've never listened to before. He was truly blessed by God with the ability to perfectly capture emotions in his music. His wife said that his music makes people feel understood, and that's exactly how it makes me feel.
