❤❤❤❤Genial, recordar a la Stupenda en este rol…era y sigue siendo absolutamente suyo. Joan dignificó a Donizetti con interpretaciones soberbias, precioso vídeo, de una cantante extraordinaria. Muchas gracias.

Excellent quality, amazing performance! Joan and Alfredo belting out those top notes which filled the entire Covent Garden was truly mesmerizing. What have we left with today? Small voices and no fire!

Oh they don't make them like that anymore! Oh will they ever make them like that again? Oh will I ever live to hear such singing and as well as singing, the projection of a musical personality into a theatre? Sigh! One can live, dream and hope. I can name a couple of current singers who I fervently admire, but there is no one with the charisma of Joanie, Montsie or Maria. Not for me, anyway.

Poor Lucrezia, she really was a victim of her time. She would never had done the things she did if it weren’t for the lack of social freedom, and the disrespect she suffered from her father first and then her first Husband. This is a great opera and Joan did it best.

A little technical aspect that I found interesting to notice was that on the final note her chest moved as fast as the vibrato of her sound. So was she producing the vibrato by other means than the throat? Huh lol very interesting.

She uses a similar manner here, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbJoa6WZqraZonk.html and also in the Qui la voce from that same gala. I recall her saying something along the lines of "the body is a plinth for the sound". Which she surely mastered and understood.

I think it happens a lot with Joan

Its rather interesting to see that. Furthermore, I find it even more interesting to note that even as her chest moves, her larynx remains neutral and everything above the chest remains free and relaxed. Perhaps I need to look more into this, as Im very intrigued...
