God I would love to own those outfits. The 1920-1950’s was the best decades of fashion for me personally. So elegant and feminine and beautiful. Love, love love!!!!!

How utterly beautiful! There was a time when people seemed to know that dressing up to their best was not a luxury or a sign of shallowness but just another way of making the world more beautiful, especially in the 50s after the war...when people understood at a deeper level the actual value of life!Glamour is not just another way of people to show of, but to celebrate the beauty of life...wish that such glamour poise and elegance were still around these days....

At the end of the 1950s, the fashion institution JEAN RAYMOND imposed its tuxedos, fitted 3-piece suits, close-fitting “masculine and feminine” vests, straight or in the form of a double-breasted jacket with a pointed collar, open cut or covered or braided. silk shawl. Lucien David the designer changes the codes with his miniskirts, minidresses, bell bottom pants AW 1959/1960 freeing women from imposed shackles. His creations will then be taken up by Mary Quant, Gudule, Courrèges, YSL

This is not very different from modern red carpet events. We all need to remember, that a gown is not something you walk to leave your kids at the kindergarden in. And no housewife, in the 50 ies, scrubbed her floors in high heels. Nobody walked like that down the street. They had a reason to dress up. In modern age, people dress well for the situation they are in. If your life is work and home, then add more to your life, so you dont find yourself wearing sweatpants. People back then, made en efford to add culture and actually dress up and walk to the theater. Today we have Netflix. Thats the only difference.

Is this from the early part of the decade? I'd guess so since there's no examples of the boxier looks that joined the hourglass late in the decade. The hair is very short too, which is another sign of early 50s. It can be tough. The entire decade looked essentially the same. It's not my favorite decade. 50s silhouettes seem a disappointment to me after the strong, glamorous shapes of the 1940s.
