You really have to admire a guy like Joe Walsh who takes three of the most common chords and turns it into a ton of cash........

"Good news, Boppers: The big alert has been called off. It turns out that the early reports were wrong, all wrong. Now for that group out there that had such a hard time getting home, sorry about that. I guess the only thing we can do is play you a song..."

I used to pay a buck to see Joe & The James Gang at JB's in Kent, Ohio in the late 60's.....I hear he still drops by Kent to see old friends occasionally. Everybody likes Joe.

James get out of my head!!! I swear, I just finished watching Warriors. Hadn't seen it in 20 years or more. Not ten minutes ago this song was blasting through my headphones. What am I thinking NOW Mr psychic?

I like how he plays this on a double neck. The verses/choruses on the 12-string, then the bridge with a slide on the open E on the 6-string below

From Wikipedia. It is also featured on the Eagles' 1994 Hell Freezes Over album and video; in this version, the song ends with a slower version of the guitar hook from the Beatles' 1966 hit "Day Tripper".

I saw Hell Freezes Over when it first aired. It was an event. We had the beer on ice and jammed out that night. As soon as they started into “In The City”, I jumped up off the couch and grabbed my air guitar. I love that song. When I first saw The Warriors, that song stuck out. I’ve loved it ever since.

When ever I watch a KZfaq on how to play a song I finally get it then I watch your videos and what I just leaned goes right out the window because you play the song completely different I don't know who to believe

Did somebody say The Warriors? Let's get the opening theme song going, too! Also, this soundtrack version you're playing...different mix and rearranged?
@ajdc886 жыл бұрын
I don't recall the opening theme. Isn't it just that spooky synth incidental music?
@jamesjames92756 жыл бұрын
TypicalGirls It’s different from the version on The Long Run, if that’s what you mean. I prefer Joe’s version over the Eagles’.
@TypicalGirls6 жыл бұрын
Definitely synthy, but has nice Rhoads licks and solo, and a nice little chunky guitar riff. It's driving and makes me move. This is the soundtrack cut, the version in the opening of the movie is longer: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8WEgtqX38nPXZ8.html
@TypicalGirls6 жыл бұрын
I never realized there were two versions of the song. The Joe Walsh version is grittier, less polished. It also uses that little piano ditty throughout, rather than where is it, last verse? of The Eagles version. I think I like it better, too.
@jamesjames92756 жыл бұрын
Apologies to Henley fans, but as a drummer, the man is incapable of playing anything remotely resembling rock. I love his songwriting and his singing. But his drumming sounds awfully limp to my ears. In the City needs just a hint of funk and the Eagles couldn't really bring that to it. And I say that as a huge Eagles fan.

Hi James/ Privetricker, I find your channel to be very helpful. Its a shame that you get trolled for sharing your talent and love of music. It just goes on to prove my long held belief that there might be a limit to human intelligence and camaraderie but there is no limits to human stupidity. I know that the last video you posted was a while ago; but I just saw it and felt the need to say something.
