In the end, Dahmer got what he wanted. He asked for the death penalty, and they didn't give it to him. So he taunted the other inmates hoping one of them would take it upon themselves. And Scarver did. Scarver (in real life) stated Dahmer accepted what was coming. Didn't scream for help or anything

The actual woman who lived in the building with Dahmer became friends with him and said she never suspected what he was doing, nor did another friend of his from across the hall. That's basically why it was so shocking for so many residents there. They didn't suspect him, and the cops were not called constantly like in the series.

Yes please watch the Dahmer tapes. Hearing about him and how the real life events went down from the perspectives of those who were actually around him and hearing him speak on those tapes and comparing it to this show was very interesting. As well as this show does with accuracy, it's still not 100% accurate in all the details so there's a lot you can still receive from watching the tapes. I think what shocked me the most was just how accurate Evan's portrayal of Dahmer was. I knew it was good, but he sounded pretty much exact to what those tapes sound like and that gave me chills.

Yes Evan peters said that he took 4 months to prepare Jeffrey dahmer’s character and he watched the storm Phillips interview and wore glasses and held a cigarette in his hand so that they can become second nature and he didn’t have to think about it when he’s acting as well as his town of voice the way he walks etc!! The prison knew Dahmer wouldnt survive in Genarl Population which is why they kept him in solitary for awhile. It was Dahmer who was requesting to be put into Gen Pop. He wanted to die so he willingly annoyed the prisoners hoping/knowing someone would take it upon themselves to give him the Death Penalty. I know im in the minority when i say this but watching the scene when Dahmer gets killed actually made me tear up. Not because the victims finally got some justice but because Dahmer couldve been helped at such a young age and its sad to see what the lack of attention led up to
@memesouls8653
@memesouls8653 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think Dahmer necessarily wanted to die, but he didn’t really care either. The show gets the last two episodes wrong in terms of the timeline where Dahmer converts to Christianity. It makes it seem as though he did it late into his prison sentence right before he died, but he had become a Christian about a year or a half before he died. What bugs me is that the Date-Line interview between Stone Allen and Dahmer was portrayed on the TV but by that time he had already become a Christian as he discussed his faith with Stone, but in the show he was still an atheist at that point. I do think it would’ve been more interesting to delve into the religious aspect of Dahmer’s life and how from what I’ve heard and see he really turned his life around. Him turning to Christ doesn’t justify what he did, but I do think there’s a sense of self responsibility and regret on his end to get enough courage to switch and admit he was wrong. I’m a Christian so I don’t believe it’s my place to judge as we will all be judged in the end. If Dahmer truly regretted and felt remorseful for his actions then I feel like he could’ve been saved. Dahmer isn’t a sadist or a cruel person like Gacy or Bundy, but he definitely was messed up in the head and should’ve gotten help sooner. Also the rumors about him taunting other prisoners and making body part shapes out of his food hasn’t been proven as multiple people who had spent time with Dahmer while he was in prisoner said that those behaviors described by Scarver were totally out of character for him as he mostly kept to himself while in prison.

We can and do know why serial killers are the way they are. It's a sick, evil compulsion that they're either born with or they're subject to extreme trauma at a very young age that alters their brain development. Jeffrey Dahmer knew it was wrong and without professional help would never have been able to control his compulsions on his own. I'd say a good step in helping these sick people starts at a very young age. Asking tough questions and normalizing the idea that this can happen to any child with a traumatic childhood. There's many steps we can take to help these sick individuals at a young age so they don't grow into a monster.

I knew a fair deal about Dahmer prior to the series, and if watched in conjunction with the Dahmer Tapes Netflix just revealed, it's a really solid biography. Of all the serial killers, Dahmer for me has always been the one I actually had sympathy for. Not to detract from his victims, but none of them needed to die, and even Dahmer knew it. There were so many times he tried to talk about his compulsions, to family, times when the state could have intervened, and time after time he was presented with the opportunity to act upon his fantasies with no repercussions. Jeff for me, and for many of the Psychiatrists that met with him, was not evil and was not a bad person, he was sick, he needed treatment from a very young age, and never got it. In the end, all it came down to was abandonment, and Jeff's fear of it.....his way of dealing with it though was to let his wild fantasies present situations where he had complete control over being abandoned, and this was how it developed. He realized it was wrong, he knew the difference between right and wrong, but he was so overwhelmed and so mentally unwell that he would likely have gone on killing forever had no one stopped him.

Murderers or not, the show really walked a fine line between condoning or not condoning Scavers killing the two inmates. The thing is just like the death penalty, stuff like this feels good until you start to think about it at a larger level. People all find different kinds of crime more wrong than others even as a criminal themselves and if you let it happen to one inmate and condone it people will inevitably come up with different justifications for why this criminal or that criminal dying doesn't matter etc. On top that justice systems in all countries are flawed, some more than others, false convictions happen all the time, people who need genuine psychiatric help end up in prison all the time. So I'm personally put off by people who celebrate Scaver too much , aside from the victim's family, I don't think other people should revel so much in retribution and all. Maybe it is because I studied psychology in undergrad and have read lot about the prison system and the failures of justice systems, cause my mind never lets me feel satisfaction about such revenge for too long even in cases as clear cut as this one.

Hadn't really thought of it but yeah this is a Ryan Murphy production and it's not really called Dahmer, it's called Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. The Gacy bits are probably a preview to the already planned Monster: The John Wayne Gacy story. Ryan Murphy's always thinking about this shit. I wouldn't be surprised.

John Wayne Gacey being put down the same day as Dahmers 'rebirth' with a solar eclipse very interesting isn't it? Also yes Dahmer didn't fight back what so ever he definitely wanted to die. He could have easily fought back Scarver. Also I do feel for Lionel Dahmer even if Jeffery was a monster that was his son. That was his child. Also studying Dahmers's brain wouldn't find much as they mentioned with Gacey's brain plus then you have confirmation bias hugely. Also I dissagree with a memorial, they bulldozed Gacey's home and never put up a memorial either and Gacey did thirty-three. Also please watch fhe Jeffery Dahmer tapes. There are definitely some missing pieces I found out and its very interesting that Jeffery could prevent himself from murder up til the incident at the Abassador.

"'If the wicked, however, renounces all the sins he has committed, respects my laws and is law-abiding and upright, he will most certainly live; he will not die. None of the crimes he committed will be remembered against him from then on; he will most certainly live because of his upright actions. Would I take pleasure in the death of the wicked -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- and not prefer to see him renounce his wickedness and live? 'But if the upright abandons uprightness and does wrong by copying all the loathsome practices of the wicked, is he to live? All his upright actions will be forgotten from then on; for the infidelity of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, he will most certainly die. 'Now, you say, "What the Lord does is unjust." Now listen, House of Israel: is what I do unjust? Is it not what you do that is unjust? When the upright abandons uprightness and does wrong and dies, he dies because of the wrong which he himself has done. Similarly, when the wicked abandons wickedness to become law-abiding and upright, he saves his own life. Having chosen to renounce all his previous crimes, he will most certainly live: he will not die. And yet the House of Israel says, "What the Lord does is unjust." Is what I do unjust, House of Israel? Is it not what you do that is unjust?" Ezekiel 18, 21-29. There is no worst blasphemy than that to consider your own, or other's people sins greater than the Mercy of God.

Creepy coincidence about Gacy & Dahmer aside from the execution/baptism. Dahmer's first murder was months before Gacy's last murder, before he was caught. Gacy's home (where he killed young men & hid away with the literal smell of death just like Dahmer) address was 8213, knock off that 8 and what do you get? The same number of Dahmer's apartment. And they both died in the same year in prison. Gacy's m.o. was young good looking vulnerable naive boys. If he came across Dahmer, Dahmer would have been a target most likely.

What made me kind of feel uncomfortable was when they made the Steven Hicks portrayal say the F-slur, they kinda put words in the mouth of a deceased victim that can't defend themselves and you'd kind of mess with their legacy in that way, it was unnecessary too. I feel like they also should've asked for permission to the people that were involved in the mess or at least give them a heads up, it really affected them and some of them might have PTSD from the case. Overall, it was still a great series, it was clear that the intention was to portray the victims and the families with a level of dignity while also give a somewhat realistic ''image'' of the brutal nature of Dahmer's crimes, and I didn't feel like Dahmer was romanticized in any way, even if it was portrayed by a relatively attractive actor, I don't think anyone could've done it better than Evan Peters to be honest. That scene with Gacy in the beginning was one of the most intense in the series next to the beginning of the first episode.

If you decide to watch anything involving Gayce then an episode of Evil Lives Here is all about him growing up from the perspective of his sister, and her pointing out the behaviors she now is aware of that were red flags back then. I can't remember what season it is, but the episode is something like 'You Know My Brother's Name'
