this makes me cry to see how special your connection is to the land and the mushrooms.. This video is so powerful in a way that mushroom foraging videos in my country could never be. The struggle and strength of your family and ancestors for stewarding and fighting for the land to have what you have today brings a real tear to my eye

Even after watching a few of her fungi videos, I’m still amazed at how she knows which ones to pick. And I also love the fact how she gives a lot of respect to Nature - after digging, she covered them back. 😍😍

We learn that before we go to school, my home town has similar weather with her, we know which kind of place to find and which one we can eat. I just don't know how to explain it. Maybe that depends on experience.

In Chinese culture, pronouns can be used for relatives that have grown up closer to you than other relatives. For example, in many cultures, a cousin can be so close in age that they are called brother or sister or sometimes in big families and uncle and a nephew can be so close that they seem more like brothers etc. Ahao is her uncles son but he grew up with in the same house so he is more like a little brother than a cousin. It happens a lot when people have to go away from home to work. You are right though, he has changed greatly and has become a young man now.

During my childhood days in Bhutan we use to go to forest to pick mushroom... dried it up and use it during winters . Now we have shifted to India permanently .... I miss those days.. i miss eating Mushroom dashi (bhutanese dish cooked with cheese and mushroom). Thankyou Penji for sharing this moment ❤
