Clockwork Angels is the absolute best swan song in music history, IMO. Another I would add is "Heavenly Ecstasy" from Pagan's Mind. Jorn Viggo Lofstad says there will be one more album, but they have been saying that for over five years....and it has been ten years since Heavenly Ecstasy came out.

Be Bop Deluxe live set menyioned is getting the super deluxe box set treatment with all the shows from the UK tour which was reflected on the awesome Live in the Air Age LP (plus EP) being included... I think there are about 16 shows / CDs for the set ... similar set list each night - so may be aimed for the completist ... but the price for the set is super reasonable (about £90 delivered in UK). All the Be Bop box sets have been exemplary productions at a very fair price ... great quality. I have collected all to date and pretty much everything available (radio sessions, TV broadcasts, BBC Concert recordings - great sound quality) is there. If the deluxe box sets are a bit too much, each set to date has also been available as a more manageable 2 CD remastered set - I think these are the versions Pete has been collecting based on the ranking video he did) ... Drastic Plastic was clearly a different direction but the song craft and musicianship remained intact ... with Bill Nelson still delivering nifty sounds on guitar.

Gentle Giant became the sacrificial lamb of progressive rock. Coupled with their lack of enthusiasm toward commercial rock and the challenge of translating the band to music video, I think they didn't stand a chance. I would love to get an expanded version of Calling All Stations with the "discarded" b-sides etc. For me, there are some really great songs on the album... it just needed a bit more soak time for folk to appreciate / enjoy ... I like Ray Wilson's vocals a lot ... this album actually is one of my "go to" genesis albums ... I like all eras of the band but this album really works for me (p.s. ... first post lockdown gig will be a trip to Dundee next month to see Steve Hackett performing Seconds Out concert in full ... should be a great night given consistency of performance by Steve and his band over the last few years ... always a great gig)

There's 2 ways of looking at this in my opinion; final albums that were great _period_ , and final albums that were solid and a great way to finish but would not necessarily be considered "great" as an album in general. I think Bowie's "Blackstar" is an example of a final album that was objectively great in and of itself, with no qualification necessary. I think "Clockwork Angels" was a very solid final album for Rush, but I don't think it's a "great" album in an unqualified sense. It's impressive in many ways. In my opinion, it's a lot better than most of the albums they put out since Signals, so it's pretty amazing one can say that about an album put out 30 years after Signals. But at the same time, part of this is that - in my opinion - there's a real sharp divide in quality after Moving Pictures versus before Moving Pictures. From Signals on, there's not many tracks I can honestly say grabbed me right away. I have to actively _work_ at appreciating most of it, and frankly, if it weren't for my love of their first 8 albums, I wouldn't bother. So I think "Clockwork Angels" is a great album for Rush at that time in their career, but all things being equal, if it was just an album I picked up of a band I'd never heard of and had no investment in, I don't think I'd be all that impressed by it. But I digress...

Thin Lizzy Thunder and lightning, not my favourite Lizzy album but what a great album to finish on. Most people hate it and don't really count it as a Floyd album but I really like The Endless River Innuendo is my favourite Queen album and a lot count that as the last Queen album but over the years I've really began to enjoy made in heaven mother love is a beautiful song and you don't fool me has one of Brian's greatest solos on it. Its not as good as innuendo but it's still a good album. Free - Heartbreaker, shame Andy Fraser isn't on it and Paul Kossoff isn't on every track due to his drug problem but its still an enjoyable album. Bowie's Blackstar a stunning album to go out on. Most hate on it but I think Led Zeppelin's Coda is a fine collection of songs.

Fabulous swansong ... if you get a chance see him and his band on the farewell tour ... the new songs really work in a live setting ... I was one of the lucky ones to see his one and only gig with his new band before lockdown at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen .... Fish put the majority of the audio of the gig on KZfaq (once the recording levels were sorted out) with option to donate ... proceeds going to his road crew. The album was my top pick for 2020 ... great songs, beautifully recorded ... p.s. check out the superb video for Garden of Remembrance .... oh and go see him in Glasgow at O2 Academy on Nov 24th if you have a chance ...
