"Be Still " by Gooden and Cohen I've come a long way still have a longer way to go it's been a Lonely Road but I know I'm not alone sometimes the going has gotten tough and I was down could not get it up but when my Sin I had enough Jesus took me by the hand Be still and know that I am God With me there's nothing that's too hard I'll get you through I've left it all behind To find the one above I had to die inside To Forgive and learn to love I've found that letting go Turns faith into a rope and so now I'm holding on to the only one who gives me hope. Nobody sings “Ain’t No Way “ like Aretha and Sissy Houston as background singer. Nobody. Aretha sings it beautifully. Now her Sister Carolyn was a Genius also. She was a very Skillful Writer. She also wrote “ Angel” and Aretha always gave her ,her Props, before she would sing it. Aretha also sung that beautifully too. They were both Hits. They were just a gifted family.

I have a gut feeling many more do exist. But a treasure trove of them are archived in homes of powerful people who were (or are descendants of) musicians, vocalists, songwriters, industry heads, etc., who made some significant contribution to the process, and are reserved for private consumption only.

Her voice and Jennifer Hudson's voice are not the same, please! J-Hud did the biopic, but that's not Aretha's voice, nobody can do her voice. Her voice is an ocean of feelings! And after watching the movie, I feel like whatever she didn't speak about, she put all that feeling into her voice.

@@melglenn6556 Yes! And that's why Aretha's voice is so powerful, and never in a by-the-book vocalist way. J-Hudson is a vocalist, Aretha is SO MUCH MORE, when Aretha's record is on the world becomes quiet and you are just completely dominated by her singing, like the ocean is in your ears. She always had her sisters and the backup singers sang like TIDAL WAVES, and her voice surfing on top of these waves, completely spontaneous like a dolphin (haha), playing with these notes and phrasings and it's a wonder! And personality-wise, she never spoke like Patti Labelle or typical black entertainers, she only said what's needed to be said and do it accordingly...that's ONE STRONG QUEEN!

YOU BETTER TELL THOSE PEOPLE WHAT THEY NEEDS TO KNOW UP IN HERE !!! JHUDSON MESSED UP THE QUEENS CLASSICS, BIG TIME AND FOR REAL 🥳 !!! QUEEN ARETHA CLEARLY SAID JHUDSON COULD PORTRAY HER LIFE, NOT SING HER SONGS, IN THE MOVIE !!! BECAUSE THE TRUTH IS THAT NOBODY CAN SING QUEEN ARETHA OR WHITNEY !!! THEY ALL NEEDS TO GO SIT DOWN ANYWHERE !!! IF NO ONE CAN SING GLADYS KNIGHT, HOW THEY GONNA SING QUEEN ARETHA FRANKLIN ??? ALL THE ELDERLY LADIES IN MY FAMILY MENTIONED 5 NAMES ABOVE THE REST IN THIS GENRRE: ARETHA FRANKLIN, DIONNE WARWICK, SUPREMES, GLADYS KNIGHT, WHITNEY HOUSTON. WITH ALL RESPECTS TO PATTI LABELLE, I RECENTLY SAW AN OLD AWARD SHOW WHERE SHE MESSED UP "AINT NO WAY" WITH QUEEN ARETHA SITTING THERE AS HONOUREE !!! ME AND THE QUEEN OF SOUL WAS LIVID 😇 !!! AND WHAT DOES I KNOW ABOUT THESE THINGS ??? MY KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD !!! IT'S JUST THAT THE BIBLE SAYS TO GIVE HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUE !!! ARETHA AND WHITNEY WERE BORN TO SING !!! ONE OF THE BADDEST ALBUMS IN ALL CREATION IS "AMAZING GRACE" BY ARETHA FRANKLIN (THANK GOD FOR MY FAMILIES MUSIC COLLECTION). AS REV. JAMES CLEVELAND SAID ON THE RECORDING OF "AMAZING GRACE": "ARETHA FRANKLIN CAN SING ANYTHING....., 3 BLIND MICE..... !!!" I SAID AMEN !!! PLEASE SOMEBODY, HURRY AND GET THE WORD OUT TO JHUDSON, SHE CAN SING MADONNA OR LADY GAGA BUT PLEASE STIR CLEAR OF ARETHA'S AND WHITNEY'S DOMIAN !!! AND WHERE WILL YOU ALL SPEND ETERNITY ??? LUKE:16:19-31. THANK YOU

In my mind this is the Magnum Opus of Aretha. Carolyn is the songwriter. Listening to this l have come to believe music and singing along with Carolyn's writing just doesn't get any better. RIP Queen Of Soul and your very talented sibling Carolyn. Thank both of you for giving humanity great music 🎶.

I say that all the time. Back then they did not have a working understanding of what cigarette smoke does to the voice and how he can set you up later four different types of cancers in various places in the body. A music voice professional was saying it takes about 15 to 20 years or so before cigarette smoke it begins to damage the voice to where you can hear it. Her voice got lower and lower over the years in her range became lower and widest of her voice began to constrict. Regardless of all of that Aretha kept the anointing on her voice till the end. That's why no matter what state she was in when she sang everybody else in the audience that had a pulse could feel it. It was absolutely unbelievable how much of the Spirit of God was on her voice. God bless the soul of the queen!

The way Aretha belted the notes and feeling to "Ain't No Way" I find it hard to believe she couldn't get the song. Who's idea was it to get Cissy? It took me a minute to pick it up, but the horns are phenomenal. Aretha is pure Detroit, Michigan.

The Queen may have had to quit school early in life to pursue her career, but I'll tell u what, she was INDEED a TRUE, NATURAL GENIUS, NOT JUST IN THE OBVIOUS PLACE, MUSIC, WHERE WE KNOW SHE TAUGHT HERSELF TO PLAY PIANO BY EAR, AS A SMALL CHILD. In addition to that, she was also a VERY WELL READ & CULTURED WOMAN. What I admire MOST is how EXTREMELY ELOQUENT & INTELLIGIBLY ARTICULATE SHE IS & I'M TALKING SO EXTREMELY WELL SPOKEN, that she'll make the average Joe-Schmo do a doubletake!!!!! Total & complete CLASS ACT she was, all the way to the day she was reunited w/both of her beloved parents & ALL of her beloved siblings & good friends who'd traversed to the other side b4 her, as so, so many had. WE LOVE YOU ETERNALLY RE-RE💯!!!

Can you imagine being there when the rehearsal of this song was being put together and recorded in black and white, look at the fun they're having even with the white guys that's involved to help this song become a classic hit, you see Arehtha and Carolyn rehearsing this hit Aretha husband right there as well, Then listen to the orchestra and the band as this Diamond song is put together and then you have the finish touches of the this song. Even listening to this song today it takes you wayyy back to what you was doing when it hit the radio waves let alone seeing her in concert at that time, All I can say is Man Man Man what a time and what a Classic. Much Respect to Carolyn and Aretha.
