@@lukefwhite Others have already shared some pretty wise words. I know it doesn't always help things feel better though. I've been stuck inside since 2006 due to my disability though and the one thing I've learned is that being kind & compassionate to others can help things feel not quite so bad. Look out for others, listen to people who are going through tough times like you and let them know they're loved and appreciated. The world needs more kindness-especially with all the extremists out there coming from all directions. Don't lost hope or give up on yourself and help others keep from giving up on themselves. You can have a huge and meaningful impact on others and experience things that will make your life all the more meaningful, too and you don't need to leave your house to do it. :)

The fact that there are these classic songs, hidden away between super straightforward chord progressions, just waiting to be discovered by anyone with an inclination to do so. I was barely 7, and your song grabbed me then, a Groove, a feeling. It is one of those rare song that can transport on back in time. Thank You. When I'm feeling down on myself or stressed before a meeting I will watch the video of him on t.v. playing this in that fishnet shirt and that pink scarf and I start stomping my foot and singing along. I'll play it over and over again singing along and when I walk until the meeting I'm still singing this in my head and it really helps my attitude perk up and go in feeling positive rather than apprehensive and over thinking everything. Yeah we're hap-hap-pee!

You are a genius to have composed this track! in 1970 I was 15 and listened to it on jukeboxes! A "tube" which has been around the world! I later became a professional drummer-composer! This track which looks simple is actually very rich and well thought out! the groove, the feeling, the melody, the rhythm are UNIQUE! My best regards from France.

I was 16 in 1970 and I worked in a pickle packing plant after school, along with my older brother and several friends. We would all pile into one car together to ride down to the pickle plant for our afternoon shift to start. One day, In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry came on the radio and at full volume we had our first listen to a very hip sounding song and artist. over the next few days as we made our way to work all packed in the 63 Chevy together, we learned the lyrics and mouth percussion. We would sing along at full radio volume and our voices together. It was one of those best buddy shared moments ever! We still laugh all these years later when the song and our antics arise. God Love Ya Ray, You are a memory, and music maker! Ronster

Musicians - one of the greatest gifts ever to be bestowed upon us. Cannot imagine a life without music, and being born in the mid 60's I can certainly say that this song always brings back such great memories. I was only a little kid when this song came out and somehow it stuck with me all my life. Every summer it would come back to me and it was one of the very first things I tried doing on a guitar. Now I’m almost 60 and the song is used in all summer commercials of a well known supermarket chain in my country (Switzerland) It will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for sharing with us how it is played: will teach it to my kids and its magic will live on…in the summertime

I first heard this song on Radio Northsea International, at that time a new pirate radio station, way back when it was released in 1970. Surprisingly, the song was practically unheard of, here in the UK. I rushed to the record store to buy it, only to be told by the owner that the song wasn't on sale yet, but she'd order it for me. I told her she should order plenty of copies, as it would be a massive hit. The rest is history! When I collected the disc, the lady thanked me, and said she'd ordered 20 singles, which along with mine, were all gone! In The Summertime turned out to be the UK's top selling record of 1970. Thanks, Mungo, you made my year!
