@@hihi-heart The usage is likely wrong, probably stemming from the wrong uses of it on TikTok or similar media. Like you said, POV means Point of View, which would mean a first person view of the events unfolding. It is inaccurate in this case.

The restaurant they went to is likely Kura sushi which is cheap conveyer belt sushi chain in Japan. It's notable for it having a little slot at your table that you put your plates in. This is so they can be sent back to the kitchen and it'll also tally up your bill but also they have gacha things above them that every 5 plates gives you a CHANCE at getting something. Whenever you put in 5 plates it plays a short animation and it will tell you if you won or lost. It's pretty brilliant cause it always pushes people to order just that ONE extra plate to get a spin. I'm certainly guilty of it lol

@@snoozesheep it's aimed at kids so the prizes are usually little Keychains or stickers of popular anime like demon Slayer or Anpanman. Occasionally they'll do original stuff like erasers shaped like sushi

Dang 5 plates for a chance at gacha. Kura sushi in the states only has gacha at 25 plates, albeit it''s a guaranteed win but it costs 2-2.95 per plate here.

this is the entire reason i want to live in japan. culture? politics? economy? i dont care, sushi is like $5 for 2 nigiri here. a bowl of real ramen is like $15 and i have to drive an hour away for it. i can live happily in a place where my favorite foods are so affordable

It really isn't sacrificing their stomachs. 25 plates at a cheap sushi place like Kura (which they probably went to) is basically just a big meal for a single person, and it was split between them.

I'm stealing this from the comment Mochimiko's jp ver of this animation, but for the foreign bros that don't get it, the single-plate sushi is usually filled with expensive sushi cuts like fatty tuna or fish cheeks and can cost 500 yen per plate (5 dollars-ish?) Basically, Ina and Gura ended up eating the most expensive plates to get more of the gacha toys. You can see in the animation the single sushi is on a golden plate, implying it's more expensive.

it can be cheaper. not really 500 yen per plate. it could be 230 yen per plate aswell. depend on what cut & body meat u go for. some are even cheaper. it depend on which restaurant u go.

Those single sushi plates generally tends to cost more than the usual: sometimes 300 - 600 yen a plate (about 3$ - 6$) ... of course, not too expensive... sure, but it adds up! Then again, its for gacha so... understandable

I once went for an All You Can Eat Sushi buffet in Japan. 20 pieces, no problem. Up to 30? Slowly giving up. 36 or 38 pieces? Gave up. The remaining pieces eaten by my mother. 😂 20 pieces per round. I went for 2 rounds. Worth it but also too fulfilling to the point of vomiting. 😅
