मेरठ के बहादुरपुर गांव में जन्मीं अन्नू रानी ने महिला जैवलिन थ्रो प्रतियोगिता में 62.92 मीटर थ्रो कर गोल्ड मेडल जीत लिया। अन्नू एशियाड में जैवलिन थ्रो में स्वर्ण जीतने वाली पहले भारतीय महिला एथलीट बन गई है। 72 साल में ऐसा पहली बार हुआ है जब एशियाई खेलों में महिलाओं के भाला फेंक में किसी भारतीय ने स्वर्ण जीता है। वहीं दूसरी ओर धावक पारूल चौधरी ने 5000 मीटर दौड़ में स्वर्ण पदक अपने नाम किया हैं। चीन के होंगझाऊ में चल रहे एशियाई गेम्स 2023 में उत्तर प्रदेश के मेरठ की दो बेटियों ने कमाल कर दिया। मेरठ की भाला फेंक खिलाड़ी अन्नू रानी और धावक पारूल चौधरी ने बैक टू बैक देश को दो गोल्ड मेडल जीतकर इतिहास रच दिया।
Annu Rani, born in Bahadurpur village of Meerut, won the gold medal in the women's javelin throw competition by throwing 62.92 meters. Annu has become the first Indian female athlete to win gold in javelin throw at the Asiad. This is the first time in 72 years that an Indian has won gold in women's javelin throw at the Asian Games. On the other hand, runner Parul Chaudhary has won the gold medal in 5000 meter race. Two daughters from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh did wonders in the Asian Games 2023 going on in Hangzhou, China. Meerut's javelin thrower Annu Rani and runner Parul Chaudhary created history by winning two gold medals for the country back to back.
