I definitely have that with scented candles. I'll sniff them in the store, think they're amazing so I buy them, then when I get them home and burn them - nothing!! I'm a complete incense hoarder though! I love loose incense a lot and have tonnes of resins and herbal blends, but I find stick incense is more convenient!

I saw you're holding a Satya box, and thought I'd comment. I found out the company split when the founder passed away some years back, but both companies still use the same name (apparently perfectly fine in India). There are supposed to be ways to tell them apart, and apparently one is somewhat higher quality than the other, using natural ingredients, whereas the other tends to use more scent oils. I know you've mentioned being on Reddit, so browsing some posts about it in /r/incense might interest you.

Out of all the goodness this video has to offer my brain took it as a challenge to track down the lost dragons blood incense. Maybe found something.?. There’s an Australian company called Asra Aromas (wholesaler I think) that carries a line called magic scents and the logo on the packaging looks pretty similar. It’s a different package design but they may have updated it? I’d post the link but I’m not sure if KZfaq would pitch a fit.

Nag Champa is definitely my all time favourite and I recently got a selection pack of The Mother's India Fragrance sticks and am in love with Prem and Sattva which is quite masculine for want of a better word, fresh and quite modern feeling. Your incense collection is amazing!! Thank you for sharing with us! I have a small collection (mostly what my friend gave me) and then I recently bought myself a blend of floral scents (champaca, jasmine and rose made by Aroma Valley) and it smells oh so amazing. I've also got other floral scents, but I also have other types of scents like frankincense and Myrrh. But my favorite scents I go for (not just for incense but for anything scented really) is floral, musk, and earthy (in that order). I think I would love that Forest scent and the a lot of the other scents you mentioned in this video 😊

This was a great video, very informative. My favorite incense, hands down, is Super Hit, if we are talking about stick incense. In Resin incense, it is Frankincense, so far. Amazon Gold (which I believe is a derivative of Palo Santo) is not bad either.

(Mind you I haven't had a chance to try this myself, but I plan to set mine up today and try it. I will edit with the results if I remember.) Tip for people who like incense but aren't able to burn things: if you have an oil/wax warmer (first of all that's a different kind of scent method to try but...) you can appearently warm loose or crushed stick/cone incense in that without a flame. Generally people put it on some foil or in the aluminum holder from a tealight candle especially if it's resin incense to keep to warmer clean. Also I guess people sometimes add a carrier oil or water to help it warm more evenly and distribute better. But it's certainly a method to try for people who don't have the option of burning (for example, I'm an American college student and we aren't allowed to burn anything whatsoever on campus. Which completely makes sense but is also a bit annoying.) I don't know. Like I said I haven't tried it yet, but it might (keyword might) be something that someone finds helpful.

In case she doesn't get to a video... I can tell you that I burn my resins in a little cauldron(I assume any fire-safe bowl or container will do). I place a charcoal disc in and put the resins on top and light the disc and it works amazingly (lots of smoke and good smells). If you don't have any charcoal discs I totally recommend that you buy some because they are typically inexpensive and work so well! But he might be able to get a similar effect by placing the resins on piece of smoldering wood or embers. Hope that was helpful.

It's funny how you can enjoy watching someone smell and describe scents, but I really do :) I am just barely starting incense, but I've been deep into wax melts for a while, and my favorite scent of all time is amber, I can't wait to try "real" amber resin! If there's amber incense sticks I'll definitely try that too.

If you can’t smell candles then I might have a tip when buying candles: smell them in the store before buying them. The stronger they smell when not burning then they will smell strong when burning. I usually smell 10 plus candles at the store and only choose the absolute most strongest ones and that usually works for me

I used to burn Nag Champa in my bedroom a lot as a teen and then I didn't use incense again until I became a witch. Nag Champa is too sweet and strong for me these days. I love the incense from Seawitch Botanicals, although they are a bit pricey, so that's primarily what I use. I have pets so I only occasionally burn incense indoors, in my closed bedroom by an open window, while I'm working in my grimoire at night. I do use them on my back porch a lot though, because the smoke repels flies and mosquitos. I actually have special incense specifically for repelling insects, but I still use the Seawitch ones outdoors as well.

The Moon by HEM...I order it online and for under seven bucks you get 100 sticks. The scents are the sun,the moon, stars, planets and galaxies. My personal favorite is the star incense, then moon...they all smell amazing but when I have them I love them so much I burn through them so fast but I can't help myself. Regular favorite scent is any decent Nag Champa or patchouli. The one I can't stand is dragons blood, I've tried many kinds and its just not me. BTW amazing collection you have, I'm impressed!

I literally follow them on Facebook so I can find out what craft fairs they're selling at so I can go down there and pick up scents that I want and have them right away. I am kinda similar actually. I love to go into candle shops and smell all the candles. My sister and I as teens were those weird teens that would go into candle shops and just sniff all the candles then leave. They smell so good in the jar but most candles once you have them burning the scent is gone. Some candles are nice and you can smell them while they're burning but I have found very few scents that do that.

Someone did mention before I have but Morning Star incense are awesome. Green tea (clean and slightly sweet) and cedarwood (campfire) are my favorites. Morning Star is a Japanese company that make Japanese style incense. They don't have a wood core so they are a bit smaller but they burn all the way through. I can get a box of 50 for about $3-4 USD and a box of 200 for about $8-9. Each stick burns about 20 mins. but the scent lasts a little while. One thing I love about this brand is it doesn't trigger my allergies. I have very bad allergies so I have to be careful with which incense I can use but I've noticed I'm fine with the Japanese ones. I still want to try Satya brand ones, hopefully I'll be ok with them.

Incenses are best stored in a drawer or a box with a lid as daylight can degrade them. The scents of different incense sticks can blend into each other if stored together. Incense scents can degrade over time, so it's best not to store too many for a long time but to replenish little and often. Consider trying some of the Japanese incense brands (Morning Star or Shoyeido for instance), which tend to be more expensive but are said to be of better quality.

Douchebag.....im sorry but i disagree with you.....i have my incense stored in a airtight container exposed to daylight plus i have some stored in drawers unopened...either way doesnt affect the quality of the incense AT ALL so i dont understand where you were going with that statement.....Japanese incense (Morning Star...Shoyeido) exspensive YES.....however doesnt you a bang for your buck.....so why bother?.....and not actually the best quality...as some experts would say it is...jus sayin and stating a fact.
