First time user, new Incinolet Electric Incinerating toilet test. Not many videos on these amazing toilets so after I purchased one I thought I'd make my own video just for fun. My camera mic makes it sound like it has a jet turbine engine for an exhaust fan - not so - accurate sound of operation is at around the 5 min mark in the video. It really is as quiet as a hairdryer on low power. Sorry about the use of 15 year old nasty cloudy expired vinegar that my wife was going to throw out .... closest thing to pee I could find ...vs using the real thing !
This is the 120v model on a dedicated 20amp circuit.

Thank you so much for posting this video! My wife and I are building an Earthship Biotecture Home in Northern Nevada (North of Reno-Sparks Nevada) off grid and with water collection instead of a well. This is a great solution to our design. I have to research if it will require more solar and batteries to operate correctly. Once again - Thank You!

it says right on the Incinolet website that solar can't be used. But I do believe people have used car batteries in remote locations. Call Incinolet and ask.

Thank you sir, I've been looking at this thing for a year or more, debating if it will work for my need. I have a barn that is too far away to tap into the existing septic system and don't want to install another system just for a single toilet. Your video is very well done with every bit of info I needed to make a decision. It's a no brainer for me now. It would be nice if you could give a follow up review since it's been about a year by now. Cheers.

Video is well done. Thank you for being able to actually say the words: Urine & Feces. It’s striking how in other videos, folks were struck dumb finding the words for normal human waste. Regarding this unit however, what happens if a second or third person needs to use the toilet within the incinerator burn time? Doubtful this model could be used on a boat. The power with a generator is simply not sufficient. Explanation was very, very good.

In an earlier comment he answered that it can be used during the incinerator process - you just need to release the waste into the incinerator and start the burn cycle again by pressing the button. This leads to another question: what is the capacity of the incinerator chamber for “unburned” waste. Can a family, say, of five actually use this toilet in rapid sequence? is the burn chamber deep and wide enough to collect that much waste to process?

It is neat but it does seem like the power consumption is awfully high. Composting toilets are good but to really get the benefit of it you need to let it fully compost which takes months and it would be best to have a garden (or know someone with a garden) to put the composted material to use. Most tiny homes don't have space for that. So if you have power to spare but no real space then this would be a good choice - despite the price tag.
@ceefiveceefive
@ceefiveceefive 4 жыл бұрын
I believe you are correct Harmony. If memory serves me correctly, with the average use of typical Composting toilet users, the poo truly does not completely compost by the time it is emptied and disposed of. It takes much longer to be technically composted. The biggest drawback for me for the "composting" toilets besides the periodic extra work involved, was the problem of keeping liquids and solids separate. Everyone is different and for some that is more of a challenge. Makes a huge difference in the stink/eeeeewwww factor plus other impt considerations. For some it might not be the best choice. With the incinetator, it doesn't matter. Heck, you can stick with your favorite brand of TP instead of having to use the specialized or biodegradeable RV kinds! To me that is a win-win.
@mrdespondency6598
@mrdespondency6598 4 жыл бұрын
I just read a blog post about using a compost toilet in an RV. They suggested emptying their solid tank every 3-4 weeks. They supplement and help air it with coir. But that's a portable toilet, and people's habits vary. I'd have thought that dehydrated solids, eventually don't actually amount to much over the course of a year. You'd probably only fill a waste bin. So if you had two bins on rotation, you could rest one until it fully decomposed, and then plant out the generated compost. So even a small space could easily accomodate the waste, which is quite valuable. I've seen what is basically a large aired insulated plastic composter being used, and I doubt you'd fill one in a year, and could pretty much leave that in situ. But still I'd think that some rotation would be required. Composting toilets are so low tech and yet I can't see any particular benefit in any other over engineered systems. A bucket covered with saw dust, in a well ventilated space, that is frequently emptied into a discreete composting area would be good enough and very cheap. Link to the RV composting video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mr-CaaqB0qrehoE.html

My concern is the electrical usage. I will be in a trailer in WA this winter and I am concerned with the power being able to manage this toilet while also heating the trailer. Both will be nearly max pulls and I don't believe that the 30 amps will be able to handle those massive electrical demands along with any other type of electrical use (like the fridge, a clock, or whatever). If the toilet did not need an hour or so use of the electrical pull EACH time it is flushed, the ability to both continuously heat the trailer and use the toilet might be doable. I'm thinking that I might need the composting toilet instead (which is not as desirable as the Incinolet). I'm new to all of this, so any advice would be very much appreciated. I've not been in the trailer yet, and I don't know if the trailer's propane heat will be sufficient to keep it warm during the very cold upcoming winter. I've been researching on KZfaq and it seems that everyone is suggesting a secondary heating source (like a Buddy Heater) along with skirting the bottom of the trailer to have the temperature bearable. It would be ideal if I could use the Incinolet and still be able to maintain a comfortable temperature if it's possible.

Phone support is available when you can get it, otherwise you’re doing all the trouble shooting and repairs yourself. The main difference is that Cinderella needs a gas/propane install to do the incineration and this only uses AC (120 or 240 volts.) but needs a lot of power (3500 Watts). I think that the solution if you want to install in a van (my idea) is use a dedicate inverter 12v Dc to 240 v Ac to produce all the power this incinerator needs. But I don´t know if this company sells the unit in Europe (Canary Islands). Thanks for reading, Great idea!

Why not? Have you tried to bake brownies until they turn to aah? I'm impressed, personally.

3 years later and the smell is the same,(very mild slightly burnt popcorn smell) the noise is the same, and it is working perfectly with no breakdowns, repairs or issues.

Vinegar was 15 year old, nasty smelly and cloudy, and my wife was going to toss it .... closest thing I could find vs using actual pee ....

Thumbs down for doing the first test with cat poop and apple cider vinegar.

Sorry to disappoint you but I had no intention of showing the viewing audience my own feces or urine for the test.

This has more carbon emissions than if you were pooping in the first place. What is the point of this product really? Not environmentally friendly.

This thing is ANYTHING but "green". That's 2 kWh's worth of electricity per flush. Upwards of .50 cents of electricity per flush in high electricity cost areas. And then you have a fan sucking out cooled or heated air from inside your living space. Such a terrible design.

this isnt a "green" replacement for a toilet. Its for use in a remote or old shop location that has no sewer lines

YES. It is better to use a composting toilet to gather your poop and toss in the bin at Safeway. Or flush your poop into your septic system on a flood plain during high water events. Or send your poop away into a vast network of pipes and plants that run 24/7 to process the waste and dump it in a river. Are YOU still using one of the above methods for your poop? If so...do as you preach...do something to minimize you impact. Never forget we now have so many people on this blue marble of ours that this type of waste management is all that is allowed in new construction in many parts of the world. Incinolet has been around for decades and is doing a good thing. climb down off your high horse...PLEASE!
