I feel colorism on danceteams have gotten better, because you see more darker dancers now than back then. Colorism was a thing though and nobody can tell me otherwise.

Of course it was everywhere! Authority figures should set the example by not tolerating or engaging in colorism policies and peers should call out the guilty parties by not cosigning the mess.

This is the interview I never knew I needed. Lachanee has such a genuine spirit and it was refreshing to finally see a stingette be *respectfully candid about their experience. The fact she was transparent enough to admit that Asia was the better pick was admirable b/c for so long messy fans have been dragging this narrative of their being animosity b/n them. She’s such a beautiful light and beacon of energy and I can’t wait to see how far she goes with her endeavors.

When she said that 3 year rule was a myth....I cracked up. That's what it seems like. They need to abolish it all together so the girls can have the full experience. There's something about that 4th year swag that's undeniable. That confidence, fluidity in the movements, grown woman, sex appeal, etc. I loved this interview. I watch a lot of the stings older videos and when ms. Juicy on the screen I just stare at her. She is so bubbly and confident.

I'm glad Alumni are giving tasteful answers to what they really want to say about 19, but to me, had back then been as advanced as it is now for social media, issues within their seasons would've been aired out too. Yes, the beef between the two young women could've been handled differently, but I noticed none of the Alumni want to talk about the other factors that contributed to the "tarnish" which was a messy coordinator who happens to be an Alumni herself, and an even messier band director who thought it was ok to act just as catty as a teenager, when he's a grown ass man who as should handled his own situations better, but loved control more. That suffer in silence shit don't work for everybody. The organization in itself obviously has some shit with them too that added to the fire, but that's always hushed up real quick. Sisterhood is important that's very true, but that also means holding everybody in that accountable not just the two that y'all felt were too loud.

Why does it seem that a lot of older stingettes aren’t too fond of 2019? They always have the same answer when asked the question of how they view the leadership this year.
@HuneyDLite3 жыл бұрын
It boils down to Janae and Jada beefing and making videos on social media telling ALL their business. While I agree that they should've never aired their dirty laundry, it has nothing to do with there dance abilities. But right now, the old Stingettes don't wanna hear all that because they believe their legacy was tarnished.

XGS Each Stingette stated that the overall season was good but the negativity could have been left out. They’re entitled to have their opinion on their legacy. The childishness was displayed in the behavior of both ladies. There’s no way to ignore that. Therefore, the Stings are giving their critiques to prevent that from happening moving forward. Period

I love me some Juicy, she is that girl! This is by far one of the best Stingette interviews to date. Juicy is so authentic with her responses you can tell she is giving the REAL. I have to say this though ... I really wish the everlaSTING alumni would give Janae a second chance. Yes there was some drama that happened this past season but that shouldn’t overshadow the greatness she brought to the SWAC this past season. Let’s be real, under Janaes reign, the Stingettes ran the SWAC and brought all the boys to the yard! I get the legacy thing but we have to remind ourselves that we are still talking about young women who at the peak of their HBCU dance career were 19- 20 at the most and were/are still trying to figure life out! If it’s a sisterhood, why can’t the family learn how to forgive and move on. As a fan I really hope they can all reconcile
@laurenai-ni66873 жыл бұрын
LaTashaONEnONLY but you also have to realize that they were 19 and 20 when they were Stingettes and managed to run the SWAC and stay drama free. It’s ok they have the expectation that their sisterhood and legacy isn’t tarnished. To be fair, I don’t think Janae ruined their reputation etc because they have built up such a legacy. I think they are setting the standard for the next captain to say keep the sisterhood tight and keep Stingette drama/business off social media.
@HuneyDLite3 жыл бұрын
I SO agree with you. We the fans mostly judge these girls by what we see on the field and in the stands. Janae was THAT girl who ran the SWAC. Courtney betrayed her confidence and told her business and she went off on social media about it. Not a good look at all but after a meeting, all was forgiven. I wish they would just cut Janae some slack. There's never any mention of her actual dancing, just the moment of drama. It's tiring at this point. 🙄
@laurenai-ni66873 жыл бұрын
Vettmail no one is perfect but unfortunately in this day of social media...things have a way of sticking with you. I also think that in some cases the fans are reading into the comments. They said the fierceness, the look, the team were all there...they asked for the sisterhood and character too. Captain for Stingettes has always been more than who danced the best. It’s about the leadership. Janae was dope, no lies told!
@Teewill20033 жыл бұрын
@@laurenai-ni6687 I get what you’re saying, I do. But like you said social media has really done us in. I’m sure back in the day if it was as eminent as it is now, I think we would have had more situations but we can only assume of course. I agree that they are sending that fair warning for the next captain so I get it but I still need them to cut my girl a little more slack.
@HuneyDLite3 жыл бұрын
@@laurenai-ni6687 If you ask someone how they feel about a group of people and after stuttering and stammering all they can say is "I like how they looked" thats a major read. I can appreciate how they feel but they still continue to discount all the hard work, outstanding dancing, and 2019 leading the SWAC periodt. Ironically, if Janae had not aired out the behind the scenes crap that was going on, they would've swept it under the rug and just chose another captain. She actually had to fight to keep her spot. I dont agree with the delivery, but she did what she felt she had to do to expose what was going on. 🤷🏽♀️
